Thread title isn't clear. Are we trying to name the best player from all the shit countries combined or just the best for their own country?
Ruel Fox for Montserrat would count for the latter of the two. Great player in the early days of the Premier league. Doesn't get near the best player in all of them, mind.
This is probably the best shout of the thread.Massimo Bonini - San Marino.
Thought my thread title was pretty clear..bad footballing countries wouldn't fall under Scotland, Mexico, Romania?
Shevchenko
The prince BerbatovStoichkov must be up there. Can’t think of many good Bulgarians
Drogba - Ivory Coast
Born and bred in Scotland (father from Toronto)?Scott Arfield
But no evidence there of him ever making the grade in his own domestic league. Fail.Nearly forgot about Massimo Bonini!
Won 3 Serie A titles, 1 Italian Cup, 1 European Cup, 1 Cup Winners' Cup, 1 European Super Cup and 1 Intercontinental Cup and he came from San Marino
LatoBoniek
Seydou Keita. His medal haul could probably be melted down to pay off Mali's deficit.Jon Daly from the micks
Can’t think of too many Malians to rival Freddy Kanoute?
Peter Ndlovu from Zimbabwe?
Hate to say it, but has any Kenyan played at EPL level or equivalent like Wanyama?
You've been at the overlook hotel bar for far too long tonight.Geoff Hurst. Scored two goals (!) in a WC final which England have only won once and never won the Euros! That makes them close to a terrible international football team with that record. I can't remember the year they won that World Cup though because they never mention it!
Yes, Jack Torrance loyal here with a wee ironic comment as a few posters were naming George Best from Northern Ireland (as a terrible team). At least NI know their place in international football and yet we have qualified for 3 World Cups and a Euro. England never let anyone forget about 1966!You've been at the overlook hotel bar for far too long tonight.
At golf?Did nothing in a Wales shirt, pretended to be injured when Sir Alex asked at a whim. An absolute charlatan as far as Wales are concerned.
Fair point both legends.
Bales better than all 3.
Romania got the WC Semis in 1994Hagi Senior Romania
Maringa and Wanyama are brothersSeydou Keita. His medal haul could probably be melted down to pay off Mali's deficit.
McDonald Maringa won a CL medal with Inter. Wanyama was probably a better player though.
And Arfield isn't playing. Double failCanada qualified for the World Cup .
As much as I love God, he's not even the best Laudrup.Brian Laudrup
I bow to your superior knowledge!Seydou Keita. His medal haul could probably be melted down to pay off Mali's deficit.
McDonald Maringa won a CL medal with Inter. Wanyama was probably a better player though.
Boniek was a phenomenal midfielder for Poland in the late 70s early 80sLewandowski must be mentioned. Poland are pish. Must be frustrating for him.
Blokin and Belanov won the balon d'Or and European player of the year awards respectively back in the dayShevchenko , Ukraine
Kinkladze was some player.Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - Georgia
Forgot to mention GiggsBale is a class above at his peak IMO. Easily in the top 5 in the world in his late Spurs/Early Madrid career
I would argue he is the best player born in AustriaAnd his brother and the other multiple world class players they have produced you mean? the schmeichels, Morten Olsen, Christian Eriksen, Poul Nielsen, Dennis Rommedahl and Paulie Jørgensen, Thomasson, Preben Elkjaer, Lars Elstrup.
Dear god almighty.
