Caught this today on itv4 ,big mel sterland showing up well for sheff wed 1984 , nigel spackman in for chelsea too ,probably spot a few ex-gers in there over the next few weeks.
Great to watch the old games,decent players,no play acting and way better than any sportscene pish we get up here.

Still have my VHS recording of Aston Villa beating Everton 6-2 on The Big Match on a Sunday afternoon in 1989. Fanatical Villa & Rangers fan in my youth. David Platt was Villas main man then and scored a couple that day.

Watched it this morning, Chelsea had some support at Highbury that day in the old Clock End they went mental when Dixon scored.
11.30am kick off on police advice, 84/85 would be the season when the hooliganism was at its peak.
Also Newcastle had some following at Filbert Street as well.
A great watch from better times.

Loved the comment from Brian Moore " Hopefully the 1130 ko will bring the temperatures down in the crowd " ..he also made reference to a bit of disorder at in his post match analysis.

Some of those pitches are incredibly bad.

The football was all blood and snotters, barely a yellow card seen, and only 1 sub.
