So, outside of British clubs, is the answer Atletico Madrid?
I’d love it if Chelsea did. I remember the friendly against that mob years ago (1-1).Weird. Seven teams mentioned above, Beasts have met six of them, the exception being Chelsea.
Who are?Folk slaughtering Man City then saying chelsea haha. They aren’t the biggest team in London
I'd say so. Some might say Roma or Lazio. So, outside of British clubs, is the answer Atletico Madrid?
Arsenal easily. There’s one european cup in Glasgow and they aren’t the biggest club.Who are?
Only 2 European cups in the capital.
How easily? Because they were challenging for titles when you were a wee guy?Arsenal easily. There’s one european cup in Glasgow and they aren’t the biggest club.
AC Milan I’d saySo, outside of British clubs, is the answer Atletico Madrid?
Toss up between them and Dortmund really for second. If they were in CL regular they would probably just edge it, bit away from them now in members count but still impressive.Liverpool top you’d say.
Chelsea have 6 European trophies so if you were measuring based on European success they’d be up there.
Do Schalke have one of the biggest fan bases in Europe? Second or third in Germany?
Consistently third behind the obvious two I think.Liverpool top you’d say.

Blues brothers etcFolk slaughtering Man City then saying chelsea haha. They aren’t the biggest team in London

Genuinely asking what you’re basing it on?Because they’re the biggest. Lie to yourself and pretend chelsea are though
We played them in the 1957 European Cup:AC Milan I’d say
Fair enough! I tried searching and it didn’t come up.We played them in the 1957 European Cup:
Rangers FC - AC Milan, Nov 27, 1957 - European Champion Clubs' Cup - Match sheet
This is the match sheet of the European Champion Clubs' Cup game between Rangers FC and AC Milan on Nov 27, 1957.www.transfermarkt.co.uk

Honestly have no recollection of the Lisbon games. I thought we played Feyenoord but I couldn’t think when. Are you one year old? We've played Feyenoord two seasons ago and we've played Sporting about forty times this century, including in an iconic Road to Manchester 1/4 final
To be fair to him, his initial mocking was due to the ridicule of Man City as a big club. Using the Chelsea criteria, City absolutely are a big club.Genuinely asking what you’re basing it on?
Historically Arsenal’s attendance is barely higher than Chelsea’s and while they’ve admittedly been successful with leagues and cups in the past, that’s exactly where their success is, in the past.
Chelsea are comfortably London’s premier club these days.
Feyenoord and Sporting? HahaI’ll assume we’re talking about sides that are generally a big side and not just sides that have enjoyed a season or two, like Notts Forrest. Just going by memory here and from what I remember from books from before my time:
Arsenal? I don’t remember a competitive fixture
Liverpool
Chelsea
Atletico Madrid
We’ve played all the big French teams (PSG, Marseille, Monaco, Lyon), the big 3 Italian sides (not sure about the likes of Roma, Lazio, etc), Bayern and Dortmund, and I’m sure we have played big teams from smaller nations: PSV, Ajax, (Feynoord?), Porto (Have we played Sporting Lisbon?), I’m not sure there are any others.
Having gone and checked YouTube I remember Whittaker’s goal now but I couldn’t remember who it was against.Have we played Sporting Lisbon?.
You have to be at the wind up
Having read the whole thread, I wouldn’t.AC Milan I’d say
Correct, unfortunatelyFolk slaughtering Man City then saying chelsea haha. They aren’t the biggest team in London
There’s also the small matter of the run to the ECWC win in 1972.Having gone and checked YouTube I remember Whittaker’s goal now but I couldn’t remember who it was against.
Well before my time but I remember reading about the penalty /away goal incident but I had no idea who it was against. There’s also the small matter of the run to the ECWC win in 1972.
The famous tie Rangers won on away goals - but only after the incompetent ref played penalties, which Rangers lost!
Same one as us. I really do not get the anti City stuff they won the football lottery after suffering for decades since their hay day. Had the Queens portrait in the dressing room at their old ground.Man City have won a European trophy though.
Liverpool by far the biggest.
other big Euro clubs imo would be Arsenal, Chelsea, Hamburg, Roma, Lazio. Atleti, Anderlecht, Besiktas and possibly Olympiakos?,
This is what came to mind first, never mind Steven fucking WhittakerThere’s also the small matter of the run to the ECWC win in 1972.

Just a friendly.Had we ever played Benfica competitively before last season? I can’t remember it happening
Because they’re the biggest. Lie to yourself and pretend chelsea are though
In more recent times, Edu last minute winner also v them, red and white stripe stripHaving gone and checked YouTube I remember Whittaker’s goal now but I couldn’t remember who it was against.
I was watching some MLS yesterday, probably RBNY, when the commentator referred to RB Leipzig as "the German giants". Oh, how I laughed.Man City is laughable, may as well say RB liepzig
To be fair the reason they were formed makes them a pretty big Club to start with I would say.Are PSG really a big club? Weren’t they formed in 1970 and one successful down to money are they any bigger than Man City?
Have we played sporting Lisbon? We're almost their bogey team...hahahhaa.I’ll assume we’re talking about sides that are generally a big side and not just sides that have enjoyed a season or two, like Notts Forrest. Just going by memory here and from what I remember from books from before my time:

Roma and Napoli must be up there. So, outside of British clubs, is the answer Atletico Madrid?
Throughout history they are bigger than Chelsea - far bigger fanbase worldwide aswellHow easily? Because they were challenging for titles when you were a wee guy?
