Book - How did we become football fans?

I can trace why I'm a Rangers fan quite easily. My dad was in the navy and we lived down south and wasn't that into football as such. Always watched Scotland and had the strips...changed days now.
Anyway we were due to move up to Scotland in 1983 and we went on holiday to Spain. It was there that I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting a great Rangers man and who I class as one of the greatest managers...Jock Wallace. By the time I moved up to Scotland and settled Jock was back at Rangers and I was fortunate to be invited by him to visit Ibrox with my dad, uncle and cousins. I still remember him towering over me as he showed us round the trophy room. From that day on there was only ever one team for me

For most people the football club you support is as much an accident of birth as your race or religion.

I feel privileged to have been born and raised a Rangers fan.
