Building Warrant submitted for Edmiston House Demolition.

I can’t see the Copland or Broomie going any higher m8. If we look beyond the half assed notions of lowering the pitch, or filling the area where the screens are, surely the only way to add any real numbers is to do something like the Club Deck by adding a tier to the Govan. Of course that has to be the stand with the least room behind it.

I think most would like to see a museum where Edminston House was. If done properly it could attract a fair number of tourists, although granted there would be far less traffic on non-match days. Of course you would want to combine it with the megastore, ticket center and drinking and eating facility. Perhaps even add office/retail space to compensate for lower foot traffic on weekdays, perhaps even facilities likely to attract the locals such as post office, newsagent, etc

Could have a wee methadone clinic or even a Mosque. More chance of attracting the locals with those.

Am I the only one that thinks a museum would be a waste of space

Possibly not the only one but I think it is a necessity. The tour of the stadium is great but we need a museum to help attract people to the cafe / bar area during the week where that can also make money.

Greater than the sum of its parts and all that. A proper museum would help bring more people to the stadium tour IMO and the club shop being there too helps sales as well.

Doing the tour of Amsterdam Arena 20 years ago, it was like that where we sat having a few beers, did the tour and could then buy merch as well. I did the London stadiums around 10 years back too and they're the same. You leave the stadium and are guided into the club shop as you leave and end up picking stuff up.

It all depends how well it's done. If it's half assed, it'll all be a waste of space.

I would prefer "exhibits" but still keep most in the main stand where it is.

Change it up every couple of months, 9IAR Exhibit, Struth Exhibit, 1972 Exhibit, Walter Smith Exhibit, etc. Could even do grand openings and gives a reason for people to visit numerous times throughout the season.

It would depend on the execution of it, If we were able to combine a museum, shop and eatery in the same facility, i can see that working. Go through the years which leads you into the shop before a cafe/bar type area. A stand alone museum... waste of time considering we have the main stand/blue room/ trophy room IMO.

A line of bookies, a couple of pound shops and a few charity shops? Joking, or a fan zone or massive screen facility for beam back of away games. Sell tickets plus outside bar facilities and we'd make a fortune.

My only criticism of the board is there track record of projects like this. The memorial grave was a total clusterfuck and we are now being taken to court. I almost dont trust them to decide upon the best route to take with regards to this land.

The talk of a cafe scared me, the stadium restaurant is so poorly advertised and under used. With some planning for fathers day etc and promotion it could earn a lot more than it is just now.

Part time hours doesn't help either.

That kind of space that Edmiston House provides next to the stadium has some serious commercial potential. Hopefully whatever goes there can incorporate the ticket office too.

Can imagine the threads on here. 'That wee Chantelle is a right cow, starting to put some weight on an' all. Get her to fcuk. Standards Rangers, standards'.
Could maybe get club privileges also , by swiping our season tickets between their arse cheeks , maybe another revenue stream for club to explore :D

Not keen on a museum. I'd rather focus on the future and create something modern and forward thinking that'll enhance the matchday experience and generate income.

If Rangers are building a new multiple floor building to replace Edmiston House, then you can cover a variety of things including a Museum, Bar/Cafe, ticket office and function hall/fanzone facility. All of which can generate revenue for Rangers.

The car park behind the Broomloan gets used for all sorts including keeping the pitch heaters, tv vans and the new away fan barriers and access would be restrictive.
Walking round the Govan after a game is a claustrophobic nightmare. We have seen what can happen at the Brendanbau recently when access is restricted. With the industrial units and the fence it’s a no go.
BUILD THE BLUE WALL at the Rangers end. We already have the numbers waiting to get in. Liverpool built out and back to their main stand without too much disruption. It could be the long awaited answer to a lot of problems. We need more seats.
We need to maximise money from the space available. I will go to the museum but only a couple of times now and then. A new section will be full every second week. Put the museum on the back of it.
We are thinking small replacing one building with another. Get the bars, museum , safe standing, disabled section with ramps/lifts, larger capacity, existing stadium restrictions and not moving to Hampden sorted on one go.
Getting away from the unnecessary diversion this thread has taken and getting to your point about increased capacity. You suggest an extra tier and mention an additional 10,000 seats. i will leave the extra 10k seats for now and just ask how many tens of millions you think it would cost for this work and where is it coming from?

No disrespect but, as I’ve posted in response to other suggestions of major expansions, even if we could raise the funds - undoubtedly through loans - the payback period to make it pay for itself would be so long it’s just not feasible at this period in the Club’s recovery. The cost versus return on the Club Deck is/was horrendous for example. I think any idea of a major expansion is pie-in-the-sky.

10k seats you are looking at 100m plus if you take the main stand expansion at Anfield as an example, so agree with pie in the sky comment

The best thing that could happen in all honesty. The building as it is, not suitable for it's intended purpose.

Looking forward to it's replacement and the possibilities that it will hold.

The building should consist of a cafe for families, a pub and a big casino. We would be rolling in the money.

First floor could be the cafeteria area with some space for kids to play, mini astro football pitch with arcade machines and air hockey. 2nd floor the pub with a big f.uck off casino. Then the third floor can be a spacious ticket office instead of the current mess.

A casino :D welcome back minty :D

If anyone’s been to the Yankee’s stadium and been in the hard rock a joint that’s what I would like Big open modern sports bar with memorabilia everywhere with a museum, ticket office and shop all under the one roof

i think a museum should be about 10% of whats planned. Whatever it is has to turnover large amounts of cash with high gross margins or else the space is being wasted. It should encompass as a minimum a museum, a large function suite/venue, a large pub style Venue for match days, a new mega store and corporate facilities for training days etc.

Reminds me of this idea!
