Can you identify the chap being asked for his autograph?
On a facebook page Gordon Goldie is asking for some help ID'ing the player.
Any ideas?

Looks a wee bit like Willie Waddell but obviously not if we are guessing 1930's.

Also a wee bit of Alec Baldwin in there which again doesn't help whatsoever.

How tall was the guys grandpa?

At 15 he is already taller than the guy giving his autograph.

Smaller players back then tended to be wingers, but they usually stopped playing top level in their early 30's, as their game was all about pace.

The guy looks older than that, so may well be an Official.

If he has a copy of the autograph, can it be scanned and posted? Autographs back then tended not to be as scribbled and wild as they are now.

Looks more like the 50s rather than the 30s to me. Who said it was the 30's?
Anyway OP, your Granda was a fine looking and upstanding young man, hope your proud of him.

The middle parting, the lines on his forehead and the large ear lobes look similar, and of course the Kirk Douglas dimple...has to be him.

I think the mystery has been solved, well done.

Now you have to work out where the picture was taken!

I'd love to know.

As above, Alex James. I think that’s outside Hampden (Rangers end) around Cathcart Road at Letherby Drive. Would make sense if it was after one of James’ Scotland caps.
