Just listened to the referee coronavirus debate on a bbc podcast.

Turns out the referee department of the SFA have two different set of protocols. 1 from the Scottish Government and one from UEFA. UEFA for European (away) and obviously our own Scottish Government when refs have games in Scotland (home).

Well would you believe it, they were looking at the European protocols for the refs jolly to Greece when they returned to officiate in Scotland.

SFA don’t even know their own rules to follow.

If this was not bad enough. It has came to light that refs only need to fill in a risk assessment when they enter football grounds IF they have had a positive test!

WTF can that be.

Surely if you fill out a risk assessment. ie have you been in contact with someone with COVID then you are asked that even if you are not positive yourself.

They really are a state. it’s embarrassing.

To call them a joke of an organisation just doesn't do it justice.

It's just a shame that any kind of punishment for our players will likely come from the SPFL & not the SFA. I'd have told them to fcuk off otherwise!
The SPFL cannot punish players.

Clubs can be punished by either the SFA or the SPFL, as they are members of both.

Players are registered with the SFA, so any punishment is dished out by them.

Was quite a good listen. Sportsound implicated Crawford Allan as the fall guy. Kenny McIntyre practically wanted him sacked on air. Nobody at fault for Dubai though. It was the govt. Referees briefing journalists about problems. There are so many factions, agendas and incompetence at play it's difficult to know what's the truth at the SFA.

No more pussy footing about. Our game's governing body is littered with the wrong people and the whole game is suffering as a result. This entire situation has been allowed to fester in our absence and needs resolving as a priority. There I've said it.

I thought Darryl Broadfoot was poor. Typical aggressive and superior attitude from anyone involved with the SFA. Kenny Macintryre, Craig Levein and Ian McCall got stuck in which was great

At the last moment, he definitely did say he had just received clarification that if you dont test positive yourself. you dont need to fill out a risk assessment if you are a referee and you enter a football ground!!!!!!!

Scottish Football Association IMO have tried to cover this up and in doing so have made a complete arse of themselves here. They cant go back and change the protocols they used for the refs jolly to Greece (£2500 paid to them). Using the wrong ones, deary me! As that cant be lied about now BUT.... To say the ref does not need to fill in a risk assessment????

So the ref comes to a football ground
1. He has just tested positive so needs to fill out a risk assessment
2. He has tested negative so does not need to fill out a risk assessment

Surely to f*ck this organisation has got that the wrong way round. And it should be:

1. You test positive and you dont go anywhere near a football ground.
2. You test negative so you take a risk assessment to show you have been in no danger of being anywhere near anyone with COVID when you go to a football ground

IMHO they have tried to justify why 2 of the 3 match officials returning from a jolly from greece (this was non essential travel) were allowed to enter a football ground after one had been tested positive for COVID. They should have filled in a risk assessment like everyone else who has to do this outside the team whos hosting the venues bubble.

An absolute disgrace, And in summary an organisation that governs the rules who dont even know them themselves, and to top that off dont even set out rules that are logical. Maxwell needs to go!!

Ian McCall called it spot on last night. Said both are one of the same, regarding the SPFL and SFA. Intertwined now there's a word that is suitable.

Below is the exact statement released by the SFA (Red writing my remarks).

The Scottish FA has this evening withdrawn Bobby Madden from his duties as match official for the Scottish Premiership match between Ross County and Celtic after he was identified as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. (4 days after a positive test, not exactly efficient)

Bobby was one of three Scottish match officials in charge of the derby match between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos in Athens last Sunday. These appointments were requested by UEFA and organised and arranged by the Greek FA, in compliance with UEFA’s COVID-19 protocols and including the relevant testing regime. (Used UEFA guidelines on Coronavirus, And this was not essential travel, it was asked if our refs could help out and will be paid £2,500).

Upon return, one assistant referee, David Roome, was retested on Tuesday evening and returned a positive test on Wednesday. Two negative tests had been undertaken on the Friday and Saturday prior to the match. (All 3 match officials were close contacts and everyone knows this).

Bobby and the other assistant, Graeme Stewart, returned a further two negative tests this week since returning, in addition to the UEFA required tests. (This is correct but when in Scotland we use track and trace amd returning a negative test DOES NOT MATTER, close contact and you isolate as per our governments protocols not UEFA).

Notwithstanding the above, upon further investigation by the Scottish FA’s medical consultant they have been considered close contacts under Scottish Government regulations. (4 days too late!)

We are aware that Graeme Stewart was assistant referee at yesterday’s Premiership match between Hibernian and Hamilton Academical. (If he filled in a risk assessment like anyone else who enter another teams bubble that would have not allowed this to happen) We have informed both clubs as part of a review of process initiated today and Dr MacLean has informed the Elite Sports Clinical Advisory Group. No players or members of team staff involved in yesterday’s match have been identified as close contacts of Graeme. (Very very lucky and incompetent at the highest level to risk others by the SFA).

As a result, all three match officials must now undertake 10 days of self-isolation dated from Monday 15 February, as the date of last contact for Bobby and Graeme, and from Tuesday 16, the date of the positive test for David. (As any other person like you or me would have had to have done at that exact time. Imagine a player doing what the SFA have done here!!)

Ian Maxwell, the Scottish FA Chief Executive, has today consulted with the referee operations department and the chief medical consultant to seek clarity on the breakdown in internal process. (Ian Maxwell is not fit for purpose and as the CEO is behind countless f ups under his tenure)

“While the circumstances are complex the reality is that under Scottish Government guidelines all match officials involved in the trip should be considered close contacts,” he said. (How are they complex. Everyone knows you have to isolate if you are in close contact with someone who tests positive with covid, even if you return a negative test yourself.).

“I have reiterated that the positive case and subsequent contact tracing should have been undertaken in line with the Scottish Government’s guidelines and the established system utilised by ESCAG. (A bit late now saying what should have been done, especially as your organisation hands out penalties to players doing exactly what the refs have done here).

“I have tonight apologised to Hibernian and Hamilton Academical for the unnecessary risk of having an assistant referee at a match when he should have been self-isolating, however much it is mitigated by two negative tests in the build-up to the match. (It is not mitigated FFS! Its the bloody rules you organisation preaches, and to say the refs dont need to take a risk assessment if testing negative is grossly unprofessional and beyond words, Just step down you imbecile, between this and asking lennon to forefront the roadmap into scottish football regarding compliance shows your credibility for the job - none)

“As part of an internal review, I have asked the respective departments to ensure we maintain the highest standards of compliance relevant to Scottish Government protocols.” (Sweep sweep)

McCall also said that he alone can thinks of 30, yes 30, instances in the last 12 months where mistakes have been made by SFA/SPFL which calls into question their ability to adequately govern the game. Is it time again for Rangers to canvas the clubs ang go again for change in the governance of Scottish football?

did you hear the bit that a ref had informed the show that if they speak out on what they believe to be wrong they are demoted. Says refs are scared to say anything in fear of either a financial hit or career being affected.

Have you seen the footage of their last zoom meeting?

Madden and the assistant who was at Hibs game should be fined. Knew a close contact had tested positive and didn't self isolate. They need to take responsibility aswell here and can't just blame the SFA.

Agreed m8 but they raised concerns to the SFA and the SFA said, do it, it will be ok as they were reading UEFA guidelines and not Scottish gov guidelines for a Scottish match - incompetence or lies.

that makes them unprincipled cowards.

Also brings up the question, "did you see all the tackle when you issued a yellow card" by the compliance office. A compliance system that was then reviewed by Maxwell with the help of Neil lennon and the usual cabal bar 1.

Which begs the question how Maxwell was fast tracked into such a senior position. Oh wait, he's a very useful idiot for a certain club.

Him and Doncaster are exactly whats wrong with Scottish Football. Two puppets sorry muppets. CEOs of the Scottish game and yet their jobs are never under scrutiny by the press. Both reside in a boardroom with Rangers haters. And I personally believe their usefulness for these boards have allowed them the tenure they have had.

Scottish football is killing itself as people are prepared to turn the other way on our governing bodies as the Scottish fans hate us more than they love the game.

Our only hope is, enough is enough and to be honest I am starting to finally sense this with other club employees when asked about dumb and dumber.

Spot on.

After Dubai and Maxwell finally climbed out from under his rock, his statement was a complete embarrassment. His words were practically word for word the same as the scum statement. Instead of being impartial and fact finding, as he should have done, he had clearly been versed to suit the scum.

As long as these placemen remain it is never going to be a level playing field in this country.

I had the misfortune to accidentally tune in to Radio Clyde of an evening, heard what was utter nonsense spoken about the governance of our game, held on to find out who this throbber was and turns out it was Darryl Broadfoot. Worrying indeed.

Yet again the incompetence from the SFA is unreal

It’s not good enough and their statement was utter spin but they have yet again phucked up

- Billy Stark positive test at HT at U21 game so it was abandoned

- U21 debacle when a few coaches and players positive tests on an away Euro qualifier. Turnbull. Naismith. McCrorie. McLennan all had to self isolate

Now this utter cluster phuck

Heads need to roll. End of

Also who is fining the SFA ?

If they ignore Dubai but want to give heavy bans to our 5 idiots we need to ask why the inconsistency and why Rangers are only getting punished

Daryl Broadfoot is an embarrassment, he's put up by the SFA and he doesn't even have a clue what has happened to get to this situation. He was asked who made the decision to allow the refs to go to Greece and he says he "imagines" that it was Crawford Allan, head of referees, but apparently doesn't know if it was discussed with anyone higher at the SFA.

This is where a modern day MSM should earn its corn.

Tell the nation how a governing body cant even follow its own rules. A governing body that forces fines and suspensions on exactly what it breaches itself. A governing body that is either incompetent or tells lies.

But we all know, it will be brushed aside. Does not suit their agenda. Having two imbeciles as CEOs in the Scottish game has its advantages for a certain club and their followers. Pollute the boardrooms with a certain creed and employ a couple of muppets to carry out their wishes.

The only way this changes is when it becomes so polluted that even our haters start to feel the pain. And I 100% think this is now true. They will never be a greater time to force change than right now.

It cant be labelled sour grapes in our part anymore, Journalists are starting to take notice (barely) and other club officials are starting to cause a stink. Ian McCall last night gave his feelings on the SFA and their stance regarding the lower leagues. It was an SFA decision not Government. And we all know what he was alluding too. The lower leagues were offered as a sacrifice here.

Look there’s a very good way to look at Sunday, if it would have been Madden, then the SCUM would have Won, possibly Five Penalties or 120 minutes injury time till they won, Corrupt Referees, NEVER!

The Fast Track compliance officer needs to issue a complaint on the SFA Governing body and not the refs who will be hung out to dry here. The refs informed the SFA, the SFA gave the go ahead and never followed protocol. This is the important part.

So will we see the SFA itself given these Disciplinary rule breaches by the compliance officer?

Disciplinary Rule 24A recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player, match official or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall be subject to and shall comply with the Articles, the Laws of the Game and the rules, procedures and regulations, bye-laws and Decisions of the Scottish FA.

Disciplinary Rule 71No recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player, match official, or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA shall bring the game into disrepute.
