There is no cure
They are at high risk of re-offending
Sentencing for such crimes is ridiculiously lenient

This country has gone to the dogs

Said this for long enough. They say you cant rewire Gays/Bisexuals etc (Not saying you should) So how can you rewire a peadophile?. A persons sexual preference is what it is, So yes they are high risk and punishments should be greater without doubt.

It just makes me sick to see the people speaking out against what has happened. These are Celtic fans that wanted nothing more than to play for the club they supported. Instead, they got taken in and had their lives ruined - only to find out the club had completely washed it's hands of all blame and continues to do so. Sometimes for a victim hearing that the person who done them wrong accept some responsibility, or the people who allowed it to happen, is a big part of the recovery. Still, Celtic seem more interested in ignoring the massive problem they had rather than accept any form of responsibility.

I do hope the victims get justice. Seeing people like Gordon Woods fighting his corner despite all that happens is tough going and I have nothing but respect for the man. I hope he gets justice, along with the many others affected.

One of the most astounding parts is the fact that the Scottish Government, despite several requests to talk about it, still haven't responded in any fashion. Now, it's not a surprise by any means but it is astounding and disgusting in equal measures.

First of all we wish this abuse had never happened. That would be the end of it.

It did happen, and the perpetrators of the crimes have to be punished. Some of them have, although in some cases leniently.

The victims have to be compensated. Both in terms of support and restitution for the misery they have suffered during their lives.

The corporate responsibility is Celtic’s, and they have to be punished for their failure to offer a duty of care. A duty of care to children and young people in their charge.

Did Celtic benefit from the Boy’s club? Did they revel in the Boy’s Club’s success? Did they benefit from a flow of young players that didn’t cost them a penny? Did they receive transfer fees for players who came through their Boy’s Club system?

Yes, Celtic benefited from the Boy’s Club and sexually abused them at the same time. An utterly abhorrent situation.

Should Celtic therefore receive a sporting punishment? Remember another club was prosecuted, for issuing side letters, and failing to investigate the suitability of an employee tax scheme. Their proposed punishment was the stripping of titles. A sporting punishment.

Should Celtic receive a sporting punishment ?

Certainly they should.
They concealed a paedophile ring for 50+ years, and, to quote Patrick Maguire of Thompson Soicitors, youngsters were abused and raped on an "industrial scale" throughout that time.
If this horrible truth had been recognised and dealt with openly by the football authorities and the law then there is no doubt that it would have massively impacted the level to which they could have attracted players and sponsorships. They have, therefore, effectively benefitted from financial cheating and titles and cups should be stripped, if not the sordid club itself closed down permanently.

Then

"Celtic Boys Club ... and organisation which has become an important part of Celtic"

"The Boys Club are an important part of Celtic"

"The rearing of potential first-team players through Celtic Boys Club ... has long been a feature of Celtic Football Club"

"Celtic are currently in the process of setting up a Celtic Boys Club based in Edinburgh"

Now

"Celtic Football Club is a separate organisation"

The fact they had a strategy of an international wide (including Ireland) network of Boys Clubs and that this network was created, led by Celtic FC and incorporated and integrated into its own football structure (especially in the area of coaching where the abuse mainly happened) demonstrates they are either the same entity or entities entirely dependant on their integration with Celtic FC. It is the clear management, coaching and football connection to Celtic FC that makes Celtic culpable for how these clubs were run and the welfare of the children. Even if there was a separate legal entity they actually knew the abuse was happening and concealed it and they let it continue because they benefitted from covering up the abuse both in terms of reputation and a flow of top talent. They benefitted financially from this cover up.

Even now celtc are still acting as if this has nothing to do with them. Really there should be search warrants galore being granted to seize any and all potential evidence of criminality not only from the club itself but also certain members of staff - who surely must, by any definition of the phrase, be persons of interest. I'd also like certain charity connections opened up to investigation at some point. An organised and world wide pedophile ring operated within celtc doesnt get involved with a "Thai Tims' styled charity just for the good of the children...

It's nothing to do with trophies!
You're absolutely correct. It's about justice and compensation for God knows how many victims. But once these aims have been achieved and the facts regarding Celtic's complicity are laid bare before the world then the SFA will be compelled to act. Because " bringing the game into disrepute" doesn't come close to describing their crimes. And the only sanctions open to the SFA are footballing ones. So when the time is right - and only then - it will.need to be dealt with.

If Celtic fc and Celtic boys club are 'seperate entities' why is the general manager of Celtic boys club 1974 - 1991 sending his resignation letter to the chief executive of Celtic fc and why is the chief executive of Celtic fc commenting on the resignation of an official of an organisation that is a 'seperate entity' from Celtic fc.........

They say if you want the truth then follow the money, and I think that will play a part in their downfall.

Who was paying the abusers for their work at CBC? Because they were not doing it for free. Was it cash in hand as well? Going by the way Celtic operated at the time, you would expect so. Also, who funded the trips, equipment, strips, etc? Did Celtic charge the Boys Club for any use of facilities?

Andy Ritchie is on record as stating that Celtic, via Tommy Burns, offered him £100 a week to come and revamp the Boys Club. That does not sound like a “separate entity”, not when the club are paying a coach to work with the Boys Club.

If the police have done proper questioning over the years, then all these things should already be on record. Be interesting if Thompsons have done their homework in that regard.

They still haven't said anything about their recent (2019?) investigation into historic child abuse at their club. Why there wasnt immediate government and police interest when Lawell announced that is disgusting and simply disgraceful. The media silence over this as well is horrific.

IIRC 2019 was when Lawwell said their investigating had been ongoing for the past 2 years.

So that would make it closer to 2017 when it started.

You're correct. Politicians and media in any normal society would have been hounding him long ago for answers.

Only in Scotland, and only at that club, would it be possible to do your own internal enquiry into CSA as the Police and Government sit idly bye.

The control and collusion they have with the media, SFA/SPFL and government to limit the public exposure isn't done with the CEO having any concern over his/her credibility or even legality.
When this is exposed it will not just be damning of that bastardised football team.

Even today the welfare of now adults that had to endure one of the most heinous crimes as children is put secondary to the standing and reputation of a f-ing football club. I'm a football fan but for f-sake that is sickening. Our country isn't normal.
Correct , Scotland has become more corrupt than a Nigerian election

The country stinks now far worse than its ever done

Nationalism is to blame with its independence at any price mantra

I think you’ve touched on a tactic they’ll use D.

We’re these guys being paid cash in hand & thereby there are no payroll records ?

Very sinister this Bheast was connected with so many different boys clubs before he joined CFC and worked with their boys club

McCafferty also worked at Hibs and Falkirk and left under suspicious circumstances

The death of CBC player Lawrence Haggart who McCafferty called the family home on the day of the young boys murder needs reopened given the convicted individual maintains his innocence to this day

You just know the cover ups and silence from SNP, PS, SFA and SPL Crown Office and vast majority of the complicit mhedia is coordinated by one institution - the Roman Catholic Church and their tentacles is written all over this scandal

Thompsons are saying child abuse on industrial scale and yet these vile bastards are still trying to cover up and suppress the truth

What a sick country Scotland is becoming.

A padeos Paradise and we all know what the vermin like to call Parkpaed don’t we !!
