Celtic have won five knockout ties after Christmas in 48 years.

Rangers have won five knockout ties after Christmas in the last 14 months.

Celtic have won six knockout ties after Christmas in the last 50 years.

Rangers have won six knockout ties after Christmas in the last 2 years and 3 months.

Celtic:

1973/74 - Basel

2002/03 - Stuttgart, Liverpool, Boavista

2003/04 - Teplice, Barcelona

Rangers:

2019/20 - Braga

2020/21 - Antwerp

2021/22 - Dortmund, Crvena Zvezda, Braga, RB Leipzig

As difficult as their success has been at times you look at that and show how little it means to anyone outside of Parkhead.

They are the club everyone in football looks to as an example of embarrassment on the big stages.
Ajax were a bawhair away from the Champions League final in 2019 with a smaller budget than Celtic.

They're in danger of becoming even more of an absolute non entity outside of Scotland if they keep it up.

Guarantee outside of the UK if you asked 100 football fans to name one of their players you'd struggle to get into double figures.

You'd think it was them who were the ones that had to work their way back from the fourth tier of Scottish football with those stats.

Won something once during Scottish footballs golden age. Couple of finals here and there. Few iconic victories in individual matches.

Same could be said of us but we are on the cusp of making them Scotland’s one hit wonders.

I really don’t want to get ahead of myself but if we win next week celtic fans will be in a dilemma. Either Rangers won their second European trophy, or Sevco went from being founded in Scottish div 3 to winning the EL in less than a decade.

If it’s the latter then it’s the greatest achievement in the history of Scottish football, hands down. Better than their Lisbon lions, by a mile. That might even be the case for the former too given where the club was.

Gio has won more post-Christmas ties than Aberdeen have in their entire history.

Gio has won more post-Christmas ties than Dundee United have in their entire history.

Gio has won more post-Christmas ties than Hearts have in their entire history.

Gio has won more post-Christmas ties than Hibs have in their entire history.

Gio has won more post-Christmas ties than Postecoglou, Lennon (x2), Rodgers, Mowbray, Strachan, Barnes, Vengloš, Jansen, Burns, Macari, Brady, McNeill, & Hay put together.

Did they not beat Blackburn in 2003?

Edit just realised that was before Xmas

Yes, but it was before Christmas.

That is outstanding

Just for reference mate how many knock out ties have we won in the same 50 years? They’ve only won 6 how many have we won? Should be interesting if anyone knows

I always watch the ‘tic in European nights and the Tim’s seem to hate it when I say that.

We didn’t win a post-Christmas knockout tie between 1972 and 2007 (Hapoel Tel Aviv).

And since then:
Hapoel in 06/07
Panathanaikos, Bremen, Sporting, Fiorentina in 07/08
Sporting in 10/11
Braga in 19/20
Antwerp in 20/21
Dortumund, Red Star, Braga, Leipzig this year

so 12

Whatever it is, and it is more than them, it still isn't enough.
I have always maintained that we should be judged in Europe.
No one outside of Scotland cares that you hammer another Scottish club 5 nothing.
No one

So it’s 12 for us and 5 for them . Cheers for this that’s good ammo

Why are we even mentioning them on here? Highlighting their heinous acts? Absolutely. Someone has to. But it's weird to talk about them being obsessed while having threads like this.

One to store for if we win the final....

Celtic, the first club to get knocked out of 3 European competitions in one season

Rangers, the first club to have 2 teams qualify for the Champions league in one season. (ourselves and them on the back of our achievements in the previous seasons)

I really didn't want to post this before the final in fear of jinxing it.

They will add to it by giving the whole nation a showing up yet again next season in Europe. Bitch slapped around Europe by everyone and their dug in the last 20 years. Just about every cahunt has had a shot.
But hey it's all fine and dandy, they can run around the park celebrating quadruple duple super duple duple trebles or whatever the fook it was, and victories against rangers sides that had the likes of Lee hodson, Rob kiernan and Philip senderos on crutches hobbling around.
They are an absolute embarrassment of a club and fanbase.
Them celebrating trophies over this last ten years is like Mike Tyson in his prime entering a boxing contest at an old folks home against the residents, knocking them all out then claiming that he is the greatest in the world off the back of it. Who else was going to compete.. Aberdeen?

Luckily Hinkel went to Bravenose for dossier on us before the game last Thursday.. their record is one of the worst..if not the worst… in european football
Bravenose had me laughing like phuck. I have seen that nose in real life and believe me, it's big

They had the chance to leave us behind and they didn’t take it. I think they will live to regret that in the coming years and probably decades.
Scott Brown took liberties for years also.
And now they have the big Aussie saviour and half the cast of Takeshi’s castle, and a Scottish press that crawl up their arse.
I find it criminal that we lost the league to nothing but an average side, but I believe lessons will be learnt.
If we do it next week, and there’s every chance we will, then the meltdown with that mob will be glorious.

It's even more weird to attempt to compare a thread like this on a football forum to how the filth spend their lives.

I really can't imagine why anyone would think they are remotely similar.

Celtc, the club everyone wants to draw in Europe. Specialists in European failure.
