Champions League Qualifiers

The players should go into the qualifiers with the same belief they had against the likes of Dortmund and Leipzig.

This fantastic run has meant we are now seeded and should have a good chance of making it into the Champions League.

A lot will depend on what players are still there and who has replaced them by the time these qualifiers begin/end. This summer for us has now taken on even greater importance if we are to make CL football.

Good chance? At best it's 50 50 , we could get psv in round 3 then a team from France in the round 4 (worst case scenario).

Fingers crossed that we get a good draw again.

In the 3rd round the seeded teams will likely be, in order, Benfica (61-27th), Rangers (50.250-33rd), Dynamo Kiev and Marseille (both 44-39th and 38th). We would each play one of PSV (33-50th), Midtylland (19-87th)as both would have guaranteed unseeded places as it stands due to coefficient rankings, or the winners of the ties between Sturm Graz (7.770-151st), Union (5.93-210th), Fenerbahce (14.5-107th) and Apoel (18-91st).

In the qualifying round if all the top seeds go through it would be us or Benfica vs Marsielle or Dynamo Kiev which would obviously be a fair bit tougher. It's rare that all top seeds qualify though. Whether Benfica win or not we couldn't face their opponent either as they'd take the seeding spot in qualifying if they knocked Benfica out.

Irrelevant of which round we lost, if that were to happen, we are guaranteed Europa League group stage participation at a minimum as we are on the league path and not the champions path, unlike this season, which is how Celtic (33-51st so would have been unseeded for any lurkers looking in) secured their spot.
