Chelsea and Arsenal struggling to sell their Europa League tickets

Heard a fan talking on Talksport about how he was getting to the final next week. He was an Arsenal fan and he said they have sold about 1500 and Chelsea somewhere just below that amount.

I know it is going to be a bastard for fans to get there but 3k between both clubs seems ridiculously low?

its the cost of the travel. outrage down here at the fact that its being held in Azerbaijan for a start, and then add to that the fact that travel companies / airlines are ramping flights up to the max to the extent whereby flights alone are costing over a grand.

its a fucking shambles, hopefully as the poster says above it will show UEFA up for the corrupt cabal of abhorrent cunts they are.

It means less to clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.

It's part of the reason they shouldn't be in the Europa League.

Mix of two things. Arsenal and Chelsea fans thinking they are bigger than the competition and UEFA's insane decision to play such high profile games in the middle of nowhere.

How many fans do you reckon that we would have taken?
I certainly don’t think that there would have been any spare tickets to be had.

While cost is part of the reason is no different to what airlines have done for Madrid for the Champions League Final you will always find a way

We struck it lucky with manchester but we would have sold out our allocation by now if we were in final this year.

English prem teams dont rate the europa at all imo, you earn more winning the championship in england than you do the EL.

The footballing authorities should be at the head of changing the situation with airlines.

It should be illegal to put flights up by 200% when football fixtures are announced, wouldn’t get away with that in any other business.

I don't agree.

A European final in the back of beyond?

How is that of benefit to the game and indeed the competition itself?
The location isn’t ideal but if these ticket sales are right, then it’s absolutely pathetic.

These are two clubs with wealthy fans who are used to paying a fortune for tickets.

Rangers have played in a European final more recently than Arsenal. Arsenal need a win for the CL qualification.

You can guarantee there would be a scramble for tickets if we got there, or other clubs with big supports like Man Utd or Liverpool.

Last year the CL was in Kiev which was a nightmare logistically and financially, yet fans were busting a gut to get there.

This is an embarrassment if true. Fair, weather, part-time fans.

6k allocation

Everyone in the Travel Club allocated one say 4k then other season tickets have a chance to buy of course the club still have get their share as well

UEFA/FIFA have no power over the airlines. They couldn't prevent them increasing prices.

They could choose not to host it in a country that is barely in Europe though. Would make more sense to either have it in a central European country.

Not having a go, but last year numerous Liverpool fans were interviewed outside the ground before the game and none of them were even Western European, let alone English or even Scouse.

The whole concept is hooked and corrupt.

So many factors to be taken in to consideration when people start talking about how many would have travelled from various Clubs had they have reached the final.

Think it would have been a low count whichever British based Club got there. Costs loads to follow a Club all the way in Europe throughout a season, not much time to plan in the latter rounds either. Similar to qualifying - the easy part are the latter group stages matches as you get time to plan etc....

Think the time has came to start having two legged finals in Europe now - only way to satisfy the greed of UEFA and supporters.

What I do find poor is how many people and Clubs only moan once it affects them, this was announced over 2 years ago - the period of bidding was the time to complain. If football fans stick together they can get somewhere in situations like this - Germans and even Spanish have shown this and have even got Monday night fixtures cancelled in the future as a result.

Skyscanner are showing flights for below £550.

We would have sold our allocation bought the other finalists allocation and our fans would then sell out the tickets going for €500 at the usual places.

Why not go down the Eurovision route and the team from the country that win it host the final the next year.

Both clubs don’t have a big away following.
The final is in the back of beyond.
Both clubs supports probably see this competition as being beneath them.
There isn’t a will to sell out that allocation.
Yes we would do but we are a bit of a fanatical support and would get there no matter how.
For these clubs supporters it’s an awful long way and an awful lot of outlay for a game that they aren’t really up for.
I recollect Arsenal taking something like 1500 to their Champions League semi final in 2006.
So it’s not just time, distance or money. Ultimately they ain’t up for it as much as we think they should be.

If Rangers got there the demand would be through the roof, irrespective of where it was played. Arsenal haven’t played in a European final since before us. No excuses i’m afraid.

Plenty of excuses. Its a difficult venue to get to, costly to get to, they were offered a ridiculously low number of tickets and many said fuckyou UEFA and decided not to go.

I’d say Chelsea have one of the best away followings in England

Offered a ridiculously low number of tickets that they still woefully can’t sell?! I’m sorry mate, it’s not good enough. It’s not like it’s Australia and tickets are cheaper than Liverpool and Spurs and are having to pay just to go to Madrid. I know you support Chelsea but put your Rangers hat on for a second. We would be taking tens of thousands of fans there, irrespective of being harder to get to, not tens of hundreds.

2 things;
1 - If it were us we would take more than our allocation simply cause it means more.
2 - UEFA shouldn't host their 2 top tournaments in the middle of nowhere, they should restrict it to top stadium in the top 5 (or so) European leagues. That guarantees simplicity of travel and a 50k+ seater stadium.

Should be Munich and Seville for the 2022 ones. Interesting to see Windsor Park in for the Super Cup again after failing to get it this year.

Not a %^*& given as long as they have their samsonite full of cash .

2021 Finals although UEFA say they will announce 2022 and 2023 CL Finals in September 2019 as well

Find out next week where the 2021 Europa League Final and Super Cup will be held, September 2019 for Champions League Final

Im not going. Cant afford it. Simple as that.

If you think it's sensible venue you are mental. You use any excuse to have a pop at certain clubs.

This final is nothing to do with rangers sadly and most clubs arent us.

The foreign office werent exactly saying its 100% safe either.

You are getting a tad boring with this stuff.

Ah sorry yes 2021.

No direct flights either, bad place to get to. Shambolic it being in that country in the first place.

Correct !

There were tens of thousands of Scousers in Kiev last year.
There were indeed. Kiev far easier to get to than Baku and it was the CL but I agree with what you are saying and even Kiev was a daft choice as tensions with Russia and all that.

UEFA are clueless
