I first heard about this when my girlfriend was watching a tv drama about two basketballers who’s dad had a heart attack as a result of HCM and turns out one of the boys had it to. I googled the condition, quite scary. I’ve had some chest concerns previous but got tested and everything seemed fine. Still scares me because of how undetectable some heart conditions are.

I went for a test a few years ago and was told I had the condition, had various tests and eventually discovered I had neither the gene or the blood pressure issue that can cause it. Had my final scan at the Golden Jubilee in Nov last year, the septum in my heart hasn't got any thicker so that was the final piece of news I needed.
A huge relief !!
I really feel for the lad and his family, so many people go through life with this and haven't a clue.
