Clinton Nsiala

Dont agree with the Manager. We are giving other youngsters a chance so why not Clinton. To tell him he can leave permanently or a loan in my view is not great. L oan if fine if we have two other CBs.
I would have said to KIng and Proper what was said to Clinton.
The manager has obviously seen him in training and saw what most of us did last season when he played.
The fact he played those 2 today in front of him tells you all you need to know

Why ffs ? Had a couple of shockers and struggled against hammer throwers that’s why a young lads first season
Absolute shocking decision considering defence he put out today
Sorry but sending Nsiala on loan because he isnt good enough just now is anything but shocking especially considering you agree he had some really bad games and struggled physically v some teams. I agree though that the 2 centre halfs who started today should be nowhere near us.

Name me a player who’s won every physical duel in his career il wait patiently…..there’s been plenty of senior players come here and struggle and the very guy who’s made this decision i will never forget his playing career up here

Yeah he wasn't good enough. We were clutching onto one or two good moments but he cost us 3 or 4 goals back to back with individual errors and really didn't look at all comfortable defending.

Some of his passing was superb though that's for sure.

Best of luck to him. I'd rather a season long loan at a reasonable level but if we get a good offer for a permanent transfer then toodaloo.

i know that every player makes mistakes. I have seen our greats with the likes ofButcher and Gough have terrible games and yes Russell Martin is one of the worst defenders i have seen for us but that doesnt mean Nsiala is good enough for us. We have already signed one centre half with 2 more heavily rumoured to come in with Djiga and Coady so Nsiala is well down the pecking order and makes sense for him to go somewhere to play and try to improve.
Do you want Nsiala to be starting for us in central defence this coming season?

He’s more than good enough to be part of the squad and that’s what we need

I could totally understand if he made this judgement in a month's time but come on the boys had 2 weeks. He's not that bad a player to make a judgement thst quickly.

Seeing this as an interesting test of the 49ers network and influence.

How good a loan can we secure him?

Fernandez is just in off of a 30 odd appearance season last season. Nsiala need similar exposure before he gets a run out for Rangers regularly.

My preference would be seeing him in the SPL, if a team can assure us he will be used

We need to clear the decks but quite surprised at that. How he can come out with that the same day we start Leon King is quite an achievement.

No problem with him seeing what players can do but we didn't need today to tell us that King should be nowhere near our 1st team squad.

Was surprised that Martin seemed so final on this. Wonder if there is more to it or it’s just Martin hasn’t liked what he’s seen so far.

I mean he must have been absolutely shocking to not get a game ahead of King and Proper

I don't think it's any more than Martin wanting more physicality in his central defenders and giving him the heads up that it's best he goes.

Wouldn't read anything into Propper and King starting today either. Not a chance either will be here come September.

It's a good sign that he's actually saying that some players need to go. We've had manager previously who would've wanted squads of 30/35 without selling anybody.

Seems a bit harsh. First season as a professional and he showed plenty of promise. A season on loan at Hearts or the likes would do him the world of good. Plenty of players i would like to see leave before Nsiala

So he starts with King and Propper.
Things are looking great!!!
True.

He might think it will be hard to find a buying/loaning club for Propper (possibly the wages he's on are too high) and King (possibly he's too... eh... not very good)?

(I'm struggling to remember any game where King's had a good game, whereas Propper has at least had some decent games in Europe, but seems unsuited to Scotland.)

With Nsiala, he might consider that the lad still has potential to make it, but doesn't think he can develop at Rangers this season. Presumably he's on lower wages, making it less complicated to either loan or sell?

This is where Thelwell needs to step in. While Martin may think N'siala isn't good enough at the moment it's probably more prudent for the club to keep him and loan him out than cut our losses. A successful loan spell could make him a better player for us long term or put him in the shop window for next summer.

I agree with the sentiment that a loan deal could be the making of the lad, that would be my choice to see if he can develop

But let's face it, as of right now, he is way off what we need

He didn't just make the odd mistake, he was actively targeted by the opposition because he made several mistakes, was poor in the air and despite his physique was very soft

What does it matter if he is a tidy user of the ball if he can't defend properly?

To be honest you would need to know more-on one hand it seems to contradict his statement players would get a chance under him when the lad has only had a short time to impress/adjust.

On the other there will be reasons that perhaps we don't know about.

I'm a wee bit surprised and I wouldn't discount some of the more unpopular CB's being part of the squad going forward.....time will tell.

Ferguson did our young players no favours. Pretty disappointing really.
Playing Lawrence before Curtis against Hibs on the last day of the season for example when Lawrence was leaving the following week summed it up
Ferguson was probably convinced he was in with a chance as permanent manager and was playing experience over potential.

He only dropped Butland as he was pressured into it and the fact that Butland’s confidence was shot.

BF hooked him and blanked him.
Not against St Mirren in the 0-2 game he didn’t, as Clement was manager for a start.

Ferguson subbed him at Rugby Park when we were 2 down, as he was having another howler. The whole away was screaming for him to be subbed before he actually was. As for blanking him, can’t comment as was at the game so never noticed. He did sub him on at Parkhead at 2-2 a few weeks later however, and had had arm around him at FT walking over to the away end. So for you to say Ferguson finished his Rangers career is complete and utter drivel

If anyone had ended Nsiala Rangers career, it’s Nsiala for not being good enough

BF shat on him at St Mirren. He was fouled at the second goal and no defenders covering.

I like the guy and would like to persevere with him possibly on loan but the support just turned on him that first half at Killie. The St Mirren game was just the icing on the cake for our fickle support and once that happens there is very little wiggle room.

Actually think he could’ve learned a lot from a seasoned professional like Coady.

Would be good to get him to a team where he can still help us. A Hearts for example who will have the ability to beat them and aid us.

Needs to be a loan. It would be premature to sell him so early on
Absolutely my thinking. He is a better passer than a lot in last years team. He got bullied by the boy from St Mirren but that’s just part of the learning curve. I would like to see him play for a year then come back. Left sided CB are hard to come by.m

Can't really disagree with the assessment. He needs to play. He's 22, and we were the first club he got senior minutes at, it's not like he arrived with lots of appearances under his belt elsewhere. Think he needs a full season of playing consistently somewhere and gaining valuable experience.

I'm hoping it's a loan and not a sale.

Killie away and St Mirren at home basically killed his Rangers career.
No doubt some horror shows but he had Pröpper beside him and was in a mess of a team/situation.

I’ve seen enough to suggest we should persevere, particularly Bilbao away.

Ideally he goes on loan, toughens up and is re-integrated into a stable defence. The odds are it won’t happen, but worth a try.

Don’t get the feeling Martin is particularly impressed with him, though.

He has been treated poorly by the club imo.

Also think he is a better CB than Propper or King. We have bought Fernandes for a hefty wedge who by all accounts needs coaching.

I said at the time of his signing that it makes no sense.

FWIW I think Clinton will go onto better things and we could live to regret this.

Still have concerns regarding RM's ability to organise a defense.

He’s a complete novice at the level we play.
Has had very minimal first team experience (about a dozen career games in total) and definitely needs to go somewhere where he will play first team football and try build a career. I don’t see a pathway to our first team, I think the new manager is correct.
Beside size, I don’t know how Fernandez is any better at the moment. Your post could well have been about him and not Nsiala.

Got to trust the manager obviously but I’d have thought King going elsewhere would have happened first. Although he have to keep hold of him for the UEFA quota.

The boys problem is he can't defend. Great passer of a long ball and people are blinded by that rather than what he is supposed to do.
Would say though there must be half a dozen before him you'd have out the door.

Barry did Rangers a favour though, by taking him off v Killie away, otherwise losing more goals was inevitable.

Lawrence got him an important goal at Dundee, and Barry’s main aim was to win games & keep himself in the frame for the job. I still don’t blame him for that, it was his only opportunity, and development could fall to the next manager.

As for Nsiala, King, Propper & others - move all of them out, we ain’t winning leagues if they’re still around.
