Club statement - the current circumstances and increased speculation surrounding the ongoing impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Scottish football

The resolution should be that if all games can't be complete then the league is declared null and void and the prize money (minus a percentage which may have to be returned to TV, if a deal can't be struck) divided equally between the clubs.

This would be the fairest solution for all and would surely have enough support as lots of clubs would stand to gain financially, Rangers and cel'ic would lose out on money but Rangers would be prepared to take the hit for the benefit of Scottish football, if cel'ic have something to say about it let them fight against it.

Its got noithing to do with arguing? Its got everything to do with them trying to use the current situation as an underhand means of handing the mentally challengeds the title on a plate. If a Rangers board lies down and accepts something like that the game is a bogey.
When did they lie down? Unless you have a crystal ball and know something. If so apply for a job at the club I'm sure theyll welcome your foresight.

Being honest, the mood I am in just now, unless that statement basically just said. "Scottish football shafted us in 2012, now we will happily watch you all suffer". I wouldnt be happy.

Need to have myself a can of Vimto and a digest the statement a bit more before I get carried away.

I`ve been saying all along, that the relegation issues are far greater for clubs in this country.
People are drawn to the top of the league, quite naturally, but to relegate clubs who have a real fighting chance of staying up, is criminal.
Well done Rangers for concentrating on this, the most important issue.

Exactly.

For some even those who were facing relegation or missing out on a chance at promotion via playoffs, the ‘treat every issue as one’ approach the SPFL have been adopting up to now might have genuinely left some of them choosing survival in a financial sense over any sporting concerns.

This is clearly an attempt to separate those issues.

Might fail but at least we are trying something.

How many times have we seen statements about injustice done to us in the past followed by no material action from the board?

How short are folks memories on this forum? We should never give the SPFL an inch, they always take a mile.

What have rangers done wrong here?

Now we need to file the Interdict to prevent any decisions being made without proper scrutiny/due process taking place.

It’s a measured responsible statement. It was also clearly prepared in advance of the meeting knowing the way the wind is going to blow. The release of funds unconnected to resolution of titles and relegation is quite a clever move.

Words are easy. We are masters of that. I’ve yet to see them actively fight after any statements. I expect this to be no different. Absolutely no faith in our board.

That's the first statement from us I've seen in a while that I've been impressed with. It's attempting to shape the narrative and is offering a fair, rational response - far better than one of Traynors rants taking potshots at everyone :)

That's a good and fair statement.

Too many clubs are too clouded with hate to actually act with fairness.

Sporting integrity was the buzzword of Scottish football a few years ago to justify the bloodlust against us. Where is the sporting integrity in relegating clubs and awarding titles when the season hasn't finished?

I have always said there is only 2 options that are fair....Finish the games if we can or null and void the seasons just like what's happened before.

Clubs who vote for this for self preservation reasons, effectively voting to relegate clubs unfairly should be ashamed of themselves.

The club has released a good statement. Let's see if we manage to get some progress on our proposal. It's clear we have been outmaneuvered again in the political battles of Scottish football. The journey back to being the top team in the land(with the authority that goes with it), is still a long way away. These last 10 years have been difficult for us, but I'll never lose my love for Rangers.

Bringing relegation into obviously brings Hearts to the front but let's not kid ourselves Hearts will look after themselves, they will avoid relegation and back the Scum yet again as they did in making sure we where kicked down the league's.
Yeah, this is what we have to expect. Trust no-one.

To all the people itching to complain about the club lying down to the SFA, a simple question - do you purchase tickets from other SPL clubs? If the answer is yes, please don’t shout to the rooftops when the ‘member clubs’ vote through a mentally challenged title. YOU are responsible for helping to fund them, indeed keep them alive.

Decent statement but words need to be followed by action as we all know the b cunts running the game will try their best to ignore what the club has said.
It's a warning shot.
The club now better not roll over and be ready to act on it.

Good statement, we’ll see what others come up with next. Im sure the tims are flat out working their agenda in the background.

A statement is the best we can do at this time and it's a well thought out statement calling out the SPFL for withholding funds from clubs we will see in time how far we can take this if necessary

Yes correct, they are directly responsible for funding our haters, I for one will never go away again.

So are the SPFL trying to fix it so they get the title and we’re basically saying you’re not doing that? Is that what I’m reading?

Bullseye nothing mate. I'm sure other folk will say headshot or whatever else as well. It's only meaningful if strongly worded statements are followed up by actions!

At this point what would you suggest the board at Rangers do as an alternative to this statement?

I was concerned that King stepping down would see an end to “the statement”.

Glad to see that isn’t the case. I think this afternoon’s statement puts the Club’s position across excellently.

I'd like to think we will have sounded out a few teams and got their views on the matter before we released that statement.

That would suggest we've had a positive response from other teams to our proposal.

On paper it looks like a good statement and a clever move.

Reading between the lines it's clear the bheasts are up to their usual manipulating and conniving to get their tainted title.
I was just about to say the same. Robertson has obviously sat there listening to the game being played. He has found it so disgusting he has instructed this statement to go out almost immediately after the meeting ended. We should all be very concerned. This is a stitch up good and proper.

Club Statement

CONSIDERING the current circumstances and increased speculation surrounding the ongoing impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Scottish football, we felt it is incumbent that we provide clarity in relation to our position.

For the avoidance of doubt, Rangers firmly believe that the 2019/20 season is only complete when all 38 games have been played to a finish.

Nevertheless, we are conscious of the ongoing financial hardships faced by many clubs within the Scottish game. No business is immune from the impact of Coronavirus and we were proud of our players and senior staff’s voluntary decision to defer their wages to ensure job security for their colleagues at Ibrox. Furthermore, many clubs urgently require financial support to maintain cash flow and allow them to survive this current impasse so they can return to normal business when the current government lockdown is relaxed. It is important to recognise that these clubs across all the leagues are now in a financially precarious situation.

As a club, Rangers will immediately propose a member’s resolution which would release prize money to be distributed to all clubs throughout Scotland urgently. We believe that this is the priority in the present circumstances. It is vital to show respect for all clubs across the Scottish game, regardless of league position or financial standing. We must work together with a unity of purpose for the betterment of the Scottish game.

We are also acutely aware of other issues which are less pressing but, are forming key parts of the football narrative in Scotland. Nothing is more important than protecting the future of every club in Scotland as we are cognisant that this has a direct impact upon people’s livelihoods. It is abhorrent that certain clubs could be unfairly relegated if the current SPFL proposals were implemented. We must future proof the Scottish game.

Any restructure of the SPFL or other solutions to the current impasse must be afforded time to scrutinise in detail and consider all options. The consequences of forcing through change without due care and attention will have severe consequences for the Scottish game.

Scottish football must work together for the common good of every club, their staff and supporters. Any attempts to railroad changes to existing rules or run roughshod over corporate governance will be opposed in the strongest possible terms. We must allow decisions to be made in a rational, fair and balanced manner.

In the meantime, we expect clubs to support our member’s resolution which will provide financial support to those who need it most.

That is a good statement, calling out the self interest of the filth. It is also trying to promote unity with the rest of Scottish football by backing them financially.

People trashed the idea of us building bridges, if this doesn't get through it will prove we didn't build any bridges and at times like this you need a couple of friends.

definitely, unless we can get backing via lobbying of clubs for this approach this it means %^*& all, i'd hope our board members are lobbying every Rangers leaning chairman in the country at this point and then work on those in the middle ground between us and the mentally challengeds. Lawwell's phone will be very busy just now doing the same. would you be surprised if a lucrative verbal agreement for David Turnbull was being ironed out as we speak? Martin Boyle? and so

They’re getting their title either way, we might as well get used to that notion because it WILL happen. It’s just a question of how hard we fight back and how far are willing to go in terms of legal action.

But I’ll tell you right now, since this all happened Lawwell and the his mates at the SFA will have been looking at every possible avenue to ensure they get their title, assessing every possible obstacle along the way and any and every loop hole that they may be able to exploit. You can bet your house on it.
