Coefficient - Champions League entry

Let’s be honest no Scottish team is qualifying from the non champions path
How so?
Russia
Portugal
Belgium
Ukraine
Switzerland
Turkey
Austria
Holland
Greece

OK. Its 3 games we'd need to win.
Basel and LASK made it this year and I wouldn't say they are that much better than us.
But even then, winning 1 qualifier guarantees Europa league.
And even if you lose the first one, your into round 3 of Europa league qualifiers.

to be honest I hadn’t realised it had changed. I thought you still had to beat all the teams from the top 4 leagues

We are currently 90 minutes away from the last 16 of the Europa League, having beaten last season’s Champions League quarter finalists on the way. I think you’re underestimating us.

we are going great in Europe and if happily be proved wrong but I really don’t think we would get through three ties against teams at least as good as braga . That said you just never know and we do tend to raise our game

Don’t have to worry about English, German etc 4th teams as they all qualify automatically now.

olympiakos got through non champions path so no reason we or they couldn’t

That's brilliant news and its little things like this which will help us get back to where we belong.

Presumably today's papers are full of praise for us making this happen with our performances over the last couple of season?

This.

It will give us a crack at the CL, which is great, but even if we don’t progress beyond the first hurdle, we’ll have less EL qualifiers to negotiate, and as we’ve all seen, that’s really not a bad fall back position to have.

If there’s one thing this team is set up to do well it’s playing in Europe.

With some better players and more experience under our belt, I wouldn’t rule us out whatsoever.

i cannot wait to have the hairs on the back of my neck stand up again at Ibrox with the champions league tune blasting over the tannoy.

None of them made it to the group stage.

Hoping all the information in this thread is accurate.

If so, the service that Stevie G and Gary Mac have done for this club, with the european performances, is truly astonishing.

Now, let‘s see some of that gold dust sprinkled onto our domestic position, please :)

While it does seem daunting in principle we should look at the teams we’ve played and matched up to in the last couple of years - Maribor, Villarreal, Rapid Vienna, Spartak, Legia, Feyenoord, Porto, Young Boys. All these teams are of very good pedigree and not to dissimilar as to what we could expect in a qualifier?

Yes so much for all the lies told by pretty much the whole of Scottish football that we would be better off/fine without Rangers. Has been an absolute shambles and only getting the respect back now (coinciding with our return, unsurprisingly).

Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face! Only in backwards Scotland....

As much as we dont want to play conference league.

You get umpteen goes through the UCL non champions path to drop in the Europa then the Conference and i think you would need to lose 3 ties to ever decreasing standard of opposition not to be in it.

Decent safety net.

Of course it appears just as Celtic dont have a guaranteed title every year.

Couldn’t care less if we never played in the Champions league ever again....

the Europa League is a far more enjoyable tournament. Teams are more evenly matched

scum to go out to VAR and then ask for UEFA to get Clancy in for their games in the future

UEFA to give them their 300th fine for whinging about it

Surely the third and fourth team should even pick up some points in the conference
It's actually going to be more difficult to improve our league's coefficient. The conference will still have teams of a higher standard than Command Quay. The points in that competition will be lower than Europa League. We'll have an extra team almost certainly adding 0 points to the coefficient. The extra team will also mean every point we get will be divided by 5 rather than the current 4.

There is a downside unfortunately... less qualifiers less easy games less co-efficient points.. 5 teams in Europe means each co-efficient point is then divided by 5 instead of 4.. but fck it.. it is what it is..

Sort of feel this way too.

The CL and EPL feel like different sports, and I’m not really into them. There’s too much self preservation, commercialism and not enough soul. It’s the equivalent of a Michael Bay movie.
