Copa America 2019

Hopefully Colombia have an absolute nightmare of a tournament, bustups, the lot. The worse they do, the easier it is for Alfie to muscle his way in :D

No improvement in Argentina, still unable to connect midfield and attack. Colombia happy to allow them possession knowing there’s little creativity and penetration.

Di Maria is totally invisible. High point of the first half was Aguero's chance. They showed the Argentina fans behind the goal and there was a guy who must've been 40st in an Argentinian shirt. The size you normally only see stuck in their bedroom.

Utterly shite first half there. Argentina were murder. Not helped by the fact any time anyone goes within a foot of an opposition player, they throw themselves to the ground like they've just been sledgehammered and their teammates surround the ref demanding cards.

Say what you want about women's football and the quality of it, but I haven't seen an ounce of that shite happening in the world cup

For me, that's a red card. For Saravia to receive the same punishment for that action as you'll receive for time wasting or over celebrating a goal, is preposterous.

Well, nothing's changed from the World Cup which is not surprising given the ineptitude of the AFA.

Argentina played too deep throughout the game, albeit a bit better in the 2nd half. Long balls to Aguero, though...

Unfortunately for Messi, his miss will be a focus. And when will Lautaro Martínez be given a chance!?

Superb 2nd half from Colombia.

Barrios completely controlled the midfield, MOTM for me. James Rodriguez brilliant as always at international level, great assist for the 1st goal.

CONMEBOL doesn’t have enough member countries to fill the 12 starting spots for the Copa America (it only has 10), so they invite two countries from outside South America to play every year

Surely that’s crazy ? Has it always been the case ? You should pee with the willy you’ve got IMO

Now that Columbian jersey would have looked even sweeter with Morelos on the back of it! Two smashing goals from Columbia in those highlights, but its looking increasingly likely that Messi's genius is in real danger of going un-heralded at international level.

Whats going on with Argentina?? Some excellent players in that squad and of course Messi who was obviously tremendous again this season. Is it passion do the players simply no turn it in when playing for them or does anyone have another reason?

Arguably, fear. The pressure on them from the support and the media is immense.

The team needs an overhaul but there's a reluctance from an inept football association to make bold decisions. They also need a manager.

Obviously, there is no one reason but I'd say the lack of leadership at the top of the game in Argentina is a big factor. They had a good, well-liked manager in Martino and AFA absolutely stuffed him. He left and the team (they now look a group of individuals) is floundering. AFA now needs to get a strong, well-respected manager who can set the team up properly and have the respect to not have players dictating things.
