Copa Libertadores final

Any idea how the ticket allocation for both clubs is distributed and if the Monumental will be a sell out?

It should be mental with thousands of Brazilians in Buenos Aires.

Last years was mental. Hoping for more of the same.
The Europa league equivalent was at the weekend. Some mad bastard went to the grave yard and dug up his grandad and took his skull to the game because he knew he wouldn’t want to miss it.

Got lots of Botafogo friends going, a lot of them taking their kids as it’s their first final.
Botafogo seem to be bottling it again in the league just as they did last season.
They just lost the top spot in the league at the weekend after being miles in front, and now play Palmeiras in a virtual title decider tomorrow night.

I remember that mentalist at the time they won the league, instantly recognized him the other, absolute crackpot.

Glad you mentioned it, it was great last year.

1st half "the ref is pretty lenient here, where are the yellow cards?"

2nd half "oh, there they are, there'd have been nobody left on the field if he'd booked them earlier".

They got it done and it's back in their own hands, what an historic season it could be for Botafogo.

I'm in Brazil right now so will be watching with the locals in rio.

Last time I was offshore when Flamengo won it at half time one of them went up to his room and came down with a 3ft statue of the virgin mary and they all prayed and touched it before second half.

%^*& knows how he got that on the boat but they did go on to win
Would this work at Ibrox, I'd try anything just now?

Where do Botofogo stand in relation to the other Rio clubs in relation to support, stadium, etc?
Partick thistle with mega rich owner. I cant say queen's park as the 4 teams here are closer in stature to say the 4 Glasgow teams. So they would actually be the 4th team but not the drop off from say us down to QPFC

Behind Flamengo, Fluminese and vasco.

I'm going to the vasco game on Wednesday. Vasco have a shit stadium though but fluminese game has been moved to the Thursday and the other 2 are away from home on the Wednesday. Think botafogo can win the league too on Wednesday

Flamengo and Fluminense use the Maracana as their home stadium.

Botafogo play in the Olympic Stadium, which is a bit outside the city centre.

Vasco play in an older, smaller, stadium which is about 1km north of the Maracana.

Flamengo have by far the biggest support in the country. I've had people here tell me they only care about the rivalry with Fluminense - that Vasco and Botafogo are more of a Partick Thistle.

Walking to the office this morning though, it seems the majority of the people on the streets are wearing Botafogo shirts.

Been meaning to try to go to Vasco and Botafogo games - have only been to the Maracana since in my visits to Rio. I also managed to get to the Morumbi, for a Sao Paulo game when I visited there last year.

Flu still have a couple of relegation 6 pointers to go - could easily see them going down to Serie B.

Was asking a flumiese fan about this yesterday they lease it so they are apparently both looking to have their own stadiums again but the lease has years to run yet.

How has Fluminense managed such a drastic turnaround, seems mental?

I always loved the idea of god blitzing right by all the sick and starving children to help a grown man win a sports contest. Still, might be worth a go at the minute for us. :D

Sadly it's Jonathan "The computer has changed it's mind, this is incredible" Pearce and Pat Nevin with his bloody clipboard doing the commentary tonight.

Can cope with Pearce, but beady eyed pat ruins it!

Lets hope theres plenty action like last year!
