Cork City Confirm Rangers Game Will Not Be Moved

We will probably get between 200 and 400 tickets for the game. This will not satisfy the demand. I can see bears in hospitality and the home end. If we play Progres the issue is that should Dolly win their game they will be in Luxembourg roughly the same time as us. That will be problematic also.

The chairman sounds buzzing, some nice words.

Sadly the dickhead element of both supports will no doubt turn it into a media free for all.

Could turn it into a massive PR positive for us.

Ensure there is a fan zone for Bears over there.

I reckon the Glasgow plastics will be on the ferry hell bent on causing trouble.

Absolutely no problem with local cork fans
While they may not support us they also have no.love in for septic many of them second team is Liverpool which brings a dynamic due to Stevie G..

However there will be some looking to cause trouble from outside the area I fear .

In my one visit to Cork, I found it a Republican hell hole, beautiful place, but they are Republican to a man, a couple of pubs we went in to, upon hearing a British accent, they conversed with each other in Irish. I hope we get Progres.

Imagine speaking Irish... in Ireland. The idea!

You are also spouting hysterical, factually incorrect pish which doesn't help matters either.

I said when this draw was first made, some people are acting like it's the the 1920s.

I've never been to Cork, but i suspect the days of Beret clad IRA men popping up from behind hedges in ambush are a thing of the past. Still, some people are desperate to pretend it could get 'propa norty'.

Republican groups literally paraded the streets of Glasgow a few months back. As they did across Ireland. It's not the 1920's, but violent Republicanism hasn't just disappeared.

In reality very few Irish actually speak Irish.

A lot more speak it in the west or ireland than the east.parts of the west of Ireland only have road signs in Irish.i have been in pubs in the west where a Barman will be having a conversation in Irish with some customers and English with they others.

Progres for me. It's like a wound that has never healed, beating them comfortably would be just the remedy.

Can see too many headlines on the Rhags already if it were to be Cork City, we are on a high right now, buzzing off goals, clean sheets and new signings. We just don't need the negativity.

Greg Marshall told a mate of mine in Gibraltar we probably won’t be taking an allocation.

We fecking better!

No I didn’t. All day when asked I said I didn’t know anything about the fixture apart from that Cork were keen for it not to be moved so we’d get a small allocation. A few boys asked if we’d take an allocation and I said I didn’t know as I don’t yet due to having not discussed the next round with the club.

There’s lots of things the club could do with this but let’s wait and see what the situation is before we get ahead of ourselves.

Rather get Progres.
Dont need the shite that comes with the cork game and we've a score to settle.

Have to agree with those who want Progres.
There's a score to settle there, and nothing other than an absolute hammering will do it.

I think progres will beat them so fingers crossed. Can't be fucked with the negative media drawing an Irish team

On holiday last year I got speaking to a Cork fan, nice guy, who basically said that whenever he saw anyone in a Celtic top he just stayed away from them as he knew they would just be an extremist idiot.

They’ll no doubt be at least one weapon who’ll want to cause trouble and tarnish our full support. Many Irish people don’t give a shite about the IRA and want to live their normal lives.

The idea of there being a score to settle with Progress bloody Neiderkorn is even more depressing than potential trouble against an Irish team in 2019.

It would seem easier all round if we got Progress but I think we should ensure we have a support in Cork if it comes to that. This can be managed to mitigate potential damaging media interference that will surely ensue.
I hate the idea of restricting travel and giving in to the anti Rangers hordes that would be salivating over the opportunity to further besmirch our name. But needs must, and putting Cork to the sword should be sufficient, as our European progress far outweighs any need for revenge over Progress or having one over the poets.

Don't confuse Cork with Dublin. Different city different people. Still in ROI but very much preferable to Dublin.
They like their football there. Loyal following, No love lost between Cork and Dublin. Cork regard themselves are the real capital . Drives Dublin people nuts.
It would be a juicy tie IMO.

Heard off a few folk when I was in Gibraltar that’ll be official travel only, with police giving an escort fron the airport 1 hour before kick off

I’d much prefer luxembourg

Personally,
Rangers should let independent travellers do their own thing for this one as per every other European tie since our return to Europe

To force us onto official travel would be unfair .

What Gardy Loyal said was what I got told in Malaga airport yesterday on the way home. Obviously a case of chinese whispers and people taking your word and twisting it.

Really would love to get to this but don’t think I have enough points on my travel club to get a ticket.

With the location of the game do u think many fans will still travel to cork without tickets?
I think thousands will travel mate. Just with that alone the police will class it as high risk.

I am all for this as can get a direct flight to Dublin from my home town here. Then a wee trip to Cork. Dont want to fly to Glasgow via somewhere else in UK or Europe to then fly on to Ireland and back when a direct option is available.

But prefer to go to Luxembourg myself.
