What was the year and the score when Rangers scored at the Celtic end at the corner of the main stand and the bears were jumping about mad when we scored ?

Pretty sure it was 1985 it was after The Heysel Stadium disaster so would have been early the next season. There was 100's of us in that part of the ground I think Celtic scored not long after the game kicked off and it was then disallowed and it just erupted. When we realised how many of us there was and a boost of confidence swept over.. singing our songs in amongst the unwashed. Amazing. They never ever even tackled us A few fists flew but nothing ott . We eventually were ushered out with the promise of getting in our end but then we're told that wasn't happening, something to do with some UEFA safety guy there. I do remember a smug Celtic official taking one to the side of the head !
I think we must have been in there for about 15 minutes after they realised. Again this was a few years ago so memory may be a little hazy. But I still remember it fondly lol

That's brilliant mate, sounded like fun.

There you go I was a couple of years out. We thought maybe about 500 In there but again it could be a fishermans memory. One thing that was 100% true was the songs were going big style and they didn't know what to do

Was there Derek ferguson either had a goal chalked off or hit the bar or something , we jumped about, police started picking so many out, mclair scored for the mhanks, 1 a penalty, 2- 0 at half time, never saw 2nd half

I was at the one in 1987, there were hundreds of us in their end. Was utter pandemonium when we scored.

In April 87 there were hundreds of Bears in the Celtic end, under the old floodlight stanchion, when we lost 3-1. They were found out when Celtic scored and a big patch in that end didn't celebrate. It got interesting for a wee while afterward.

That's how I remember it, from the Rangers end, when Celtic scored a large area around the floodlights did not celebrate

I brought 3 or 4 guys up from London with me . We all went in the 'home end '. Naively , led by me, we walked around the home end right through the jungle and I pleaded with the Old Bill to let us out and through to the Rangers end . Surprise surprise they through us out ! We bought tickets outside and came back in. No colours obviously The things you do when your young There were a good few familiar faces at the corner between the celtic end and their stand

Pretty sure Rangers were allocated a section at the end of that stand, few matches in the late 80s that Rangers fans were in there in colours. In fact the 87 3-1 match is on Youtube and Rangers fans are in there with Rangers gear on.

Thats the one, celtic end beside the main stand, when we pulled one back and celebrated, plod herded us out, straight round the rangers end and they let us in, was weird watching them in the stand beside us realise we were not singing along. memories eh?

We certainly weren't allocated tickets in 87, there was no segregation and they all got thrown out.

If right
April 1987 we lost 3-1
Deffo the case, was at the turnstile at their end with no colours on show. Place was crawling with poets in their green and white, tri colours everywhere. I knew there were some bears already in but I just couldn't bring myself to go through with it. Went to the boozers, seen the score and was glad that I shat it.

We have never been allocated tickets for the Celtic end. However, we did get a quarter of the jungle in the late 70s.

Yes. They cut that back when we took the west Enclosure / west side of main stand off them for games at Ibrox.

The 3-1 game referred to in the OP, everyone was at the opposite end, in the terracing next to the main stand. It was amazing to see from where I stood in the Rangers end.

Does anyone remember the smug Celtic official with a growth on the side of his head when we were escorted out? My my I bet he wished he kept his smug mouth shut

Was one of the bears along with a few mates from belfast in the celtic end that day,the police knew we were bears and told us going in that we were on our own, but we were all steaming and didn't give a f#ck.
Celtic scored and the unwashed realised when we didn't celebrate that there were a mob of us in the corner.
A bit of a punch up started and basically the police surrounded us and forced us out of the piggery.
When we get together for our yearly piss up we still talk about it and all agree that it was utter madness and we were pissed up teenagers who could have got killed, but at the time it seemed like a good idea lol.

A couple of us attempted it for Mo Jo's first game against them there, soon started to lose my bottle, when he came out for the warm up the surge from their fans had everyone moving forward. I faked a falling over my ankle. Got taken around to the first aid bit that was right night to the Rangers end this was always the plan once the game started.

After about 15 mins of faking the injury they said I was find and could go back to the game if I wanted. Me and my mate walked out and up to a different steward trying to avoid the one who was meant to be waiting take us back to the Celtic end. Bluffed our way in to the smaller part of the Rangers end.

I have seriously never been so scared in my life but I was young and thought it would be easy, I can safely say I wasn't going back up to their end if the steward had tried to force us back.

Can recall the 1986-87 season loads of Rangers fans in their end must have been the one we lost 3-1 that season.

We always got a section of their Main Stand, maybe about 1000 out of the capacity of 8500.

It was the section next to the Rangers end and I had a ticket once in there (1979).

The first game we didn't have it (the game when Walters, Hateley and Hurlock were ordered off) Chris Woods got a Tim carried out after he smacked him with the ball in that section.

it was deffo april 1987, I was in the traditional gers end but sold my spare ticket for the Celtic End. Which was purchased in the old Celtic shop in West Nile Street! I'm sure they used to sell Rangers End tickets in that shop as well.

I'm sure that in the sixties maybe even into the seventies we got half of the jungle and half of the main stand as well as our own end. The same applied at Ibrox where they got half of our ground.

I was one, a interesting experience for a young lad

April 87 for the bears in the Celtic end.
August 85 for part of the wall collapsing on the way out.
Was at both games.

I remember that well. When they scored I pointed out to my mates that a large portion of fans at the stantion at the main stand remained still, whilst the rest of their end didn't.

Silly question , what was the reason as I can't remember any other occasions that happened or as noticeable ?

It was at the end of the 86/87 a win would have seen us almost certainly win the league. We couldn't get tickets for the Rangers end and the mhanks were virtually giving them away for their end. I think I paid 2 quid or something. When Celtic scored almost everyone around me stood still and a few who didn't wished they had. :D

I can never remember tickets either for the "jungle" or the covered enclosure at Ibrox . The tickets either said East or West terrace and you just walked into the sides of the grounds whether at Ibrox or Celtic Park.

Also bought my ticket from the Celtic pools shop in west Nile st, my mate managed to get in our end with the home ticket, I kept getting knocked back so walked round and entered enemy territory. Hard to tell but I think there a few hundred maybe more of us. Amazing that there was no trouble other than a few coins thrown our way when we were being shunted out after celebrating our goal.

Thought the wall was later than 85.

Certainly happened at the end of a 1-1 draw in 85. Having said that i wouldn't be surprised if it was only the one time this happened due to the state of their ground back then ( not much better now tbh,).

The game that I was in the celtic end the wall collapsed before kickoff because the guy I was staying with was injured and was carried pitch side on a stretcher.
He got a tidy sum of money of the filth when he put in a claim for the injuries he received.
Another thing I remember a bear getting hit by a black taxi on the London Road, the driver was wearing a celtic top and was pulled out of the cab and given a right kicking.

I was in there at that 3-1 game in 1987.
just stood on my own, but was close to the bunch of bears by the main stand.
Don't think I lasted long, don't recall seeing more than one or two goals

They scored a late goal that finished the game and instead of celebrating a large section by the Main stand side floodlight just emptied.
Amazing to watch from the Rangers end.

Aye 87, I was over beside the Jungle. When all the lads started jumping about mad it saved ma bacon, think McCoist pulled one back before that wee Archdecon made it 3-1. Wee shittleston beside me said not to worry we had won the league anyway. few weeks later we did, that was another cracking day out.

Was one of the bears in their end that day.
Me and my brother went to a steward and told her we fell coming up stairs and needed first aid room. She took us round pitch and left us to get aid. We told the different steward who was taking us back we had came from the rangers end. So he took us and put us in with the rangers support. Job done :)
