Crowd trouble at England v Hungary game

Is FF just full of particularly mental posters tonight, or is this the new normal?

Posters wanting a dozen cops to wade in to 1500 Hungarian football fans and likely spark even more carnage in a football stadium in England, whilst blaming Sturgeon, climate protestors, and wishing we lived under the authoritarian yoke of a police state. Really boggles the mind.
I blame sturgeon for everything like she does Westminster

Western Europe is so politically correct its putting people and police in danger

Imagine deploying a black steward to work in a section of the stadium full of Hungarian ultras , an incident was guaranteed to happen. Not the way it should be but the way it is.

The police shouldnt have even bothered going in, but can you imagine the PC brigades response to that. The police had to be seen to try so went in to get a guaranteed a$$ kicking , sad times

Every game is now being dominated by issues surrounding race, we need to accept we can't control what the world says and thinks and stop seeking prosecutions and bans left right and centre

The cop with the red baseball cap triggered the whole melee by whacking them with his truncheon unnecessarily.
Thats my observation also. It looks as though he was first to strike.

I'm sure he had his reasons but he didn't look particularly under threat.

Also the Hungarian fans have the right to object to their country taking the knee. As long as any objection doesn't have racist behaviour. They should stop short of heckling the other teams who choose to do so.

Police strategy was extremely poor in controlling those supporters. Rows of Police Officers needed to be placed on all sides of the group so surrounding them pre, during and end match. It looked like Police Officers took a real hammering and had to back off down the exit. There were also lots Police in the exit tunnel who couldn't get through to assist their colleagues in the melee because the police offiers trying to contain the crowd were retreating back through it!

Those suggesting the Police Officer with the red baseball cap started it, I say don't take everything at face value. He may have been protecting his own space, he may been kicked or assaulted earlier and he could have already warned the trouble- maker to back off which he is entitled to do. He is also entitled to use his extended baton to ensure a safer distance between him and any perpretrator.

Anyway Police must have known this game was going to a potentially high disorder situation I.e. an Eastern European Footballing nation with extreme racist supporter tendencies who have been prosecuted by UEFA at their home stadiums and haven't learned their lesson.

Police should have been wearing riot gear and riot helmets and surrounding them in that section throughout the game.

The senior Police Officers who plan police responses in these situations are little more than 'Jig merchants' too afraid of criticism from the 'Snow flake' society if they take any action.

I agree on the knee thing.

If people don't agree with it - and loads don't - then they are fully entitled to show their objection.

%^*& the racists but we really do have some pussy police.

Can no country manage to strike the balance between an overly authoritarian piece of shite and a wee pansy? Seems police fall into either of these 2 categories.

Would you go and get your head kicked in by a group of Hungarians for £30k/year and go home to your family with black eyes?

Whit?

Unfortunately these Eastern Europeans are so far behind the times. They can't blame communism now. C unts.
They represent the thicker end of the population spectrum, easily led by populist governments. UK has them too, dont think for a second we are exempt. Talking with Polish friends last night they were absolutely stunned by the treatment Glen Kamara got from the Czech kids. Racism can only end with education.

It’s a pity their armed forces weren’t as tough as their police when the Germans wanted a fight
Hungary sided with Germany at the beginning of the war and were by all accounts as ruthless towards Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals etc as the Nazis.

That's not really true, when they sided with germany against mainly the soviet union, there was still protection for the minorities.

They were all safe enough in hungary till the germans invaded after they found out the hungarians were preparing to side with the allies. This is when the mass deportation of the jews and gypsies to Auschwitz began near the end of the war.

The police getting sent back down the stairs by a few fans is quite a sight.

My recent experience of Wembley is that it seems to turn some fans into utter lunatics though.

Do FIFA take any action on the Hungarian FA about the flag in protest about taking the knee? In the spirit of keeping politics out of sport then taking the knee conjures up situations like this where you find “good” politics and “bad” politics.

To be honest I think the problem is less about PC Western Europe and more about some of the backwards knuckle dragging scum that inhabit Eastern Europe.

Well, the cops used to steam in and grab people out by any means necessary. By the hair, arms up the back till nearly breaking or by the ankles if need be.

What changed?

Policing standards and health and safety at work has changed. They can identify people then arrest them when it’s less volatile and use footage to convict them. Their job isn’t to try to be hard so they get the same result without endangering themselves and making things worse.

Ah,like the london riots then. Businesses ruined and burnt to the ground, like the furniture store in Croydon, like the small shop owners who had their shops looted and smashed to pieces, no to mention the polish women who had to jump for her life as they set fire to the shop she stayed above.

Sorry, but the police are there to protect the public. Withdrawing them to the law of the mob is not acceptable.

If the police want to use this tactic, then it will need to be passed to the military.

I thought you asked a question to get an answer and I answered it. They won’t be getting soldiers on the streets to a few football fans either.
