Diego Maradona has died

Can only imagine the mourning that will be taking place in Argentina over the next few weeks

He passed away 15 years to the day after George Best died. I think football now has an official date to mourn it's legends.

I feel privileged to have seen both of them play.

This year just keeps taking doesn't it. He lived some life and was a raving lunatic but no doubting he was a genius in the world of football. One of the very best ever.

RIP Diego.

Recently had brain surgery but didn't realise he was in imminent life danger.
One of the best players ever, 60 is too young to die.
R.I.P. Diego Maradona.

Holy shit man, this is a genuine shock to me...

I know he wasn't the healthiest, but 60...

Great of all time :(

First saw him play against Scotland at Hampden in 79.... outstanding.
For me hes been the best ever.
He just wanted that ball at his feet.
Defenders would kick him but his only thought was to keep on his feet and get that ball.
Sad day for everyone who loves football.
RIP Diego

Football legend Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60.

The former Argentina attacking midfielder and manager had successful surgery on a brain blood clot earlier in November.

It was then announced he was to be treated for alcohol dependency.

One of the greatest players of all time, Maradona was captain when Argentina won the 1986 World Cup, producing a series of sublime individual performances.

He played for Barcelona and Napoli during his club career, winning two Serie A titles with the Italian side.

wonderful player - in his pomp, the best ever
people will elevate Messi and C Ronaldo over him due the 94 world cup etc
but on talent alone he was the best ever

that goal in mexico forever etched on the mind of anyone who saw it

Never a favourite of mine but an exceptional player who I was fortunate enough to see play at Hampden. Sadly his lifestyle has caught up with him. RIP.

Talent that would be supernatural level in any football generation.

A great loss to the sport and Argentina will be mourning.

Sad news.

The recent documentary on him was incredible, he really was a larger than life character.
