Do we need to play with 2 wingers?

I have been thinking back over potential transfer threads and team performances last few games.

We have one winger (ignoring youngster on loan from City for now) and on left trying Windass who is more an attacking midfielder or forward. Also Lee Wallace often looked better when Mackay dropped inside and left him space.

Watch Chelsea down here and they often drop wide left player in and leave space for Alonso wide.

We also seem to get outnumbered sometimes in central midfield which stops Dorrans getting forward like he did at WBA.

I would suggest worth playing Candeis right but switching occasionally and Dorrans or maybe later Pena left but dropping into a 3 when needed. Would be better than shoehorning Miller into team left and also allow Rossiter and Jack to hold midfield as needed.

If you look back at Walter Smith's teams and Dick Advocaat's, they always played midfield 4s with 1 winger and a wide midfielder on the other side. Ie when Kanchelskis played, Albertz played. When McCann played, Reyna played. Gives a bit of balance.
