Seems like domestically we concede almost every chance we gift the opposition. That was true in the final few months of Gerrards tenure too.

In Europe we seem to ride it out a bit more, Ajax apart obviously.

I doubt any fan is keeping those stats.

Shots on target are a meaningless stat as they don’t measure the quality of the shot or indeed the save.

In our case they usually end up in amongst the crowd.

Even in the 55 season, we were a statistical anomaly in this regard, because our defence only allowed for one or two shots on target total in a game (and in some games none).

We just don’t have enough natural goal scorers spread around our team. Big Colak will score 30 goals this season, but where are the others coming from? We need our wide men to score 15 each and the same with an attacking midfielder. That’s not going to happen with our players. Arfield might get 8-10 and outside of him, our full back will be the highest scorer. We won’t win anything unless that changes.

Not going to get goals from midfield if you play Lundstram Jack and McCann together. We should be playing a number 10 like Tillman or Lawrence when he’s fit.

It’s almost like Gio refuses to play players who score goals, we had 3 on the bench while we played 2 defensive midfielders, Kent who doesn’t score and a midfielder at RW.

Negative post Imo unless you have those stats and the longer term stats to show the last 18 months’ numbers against them then it’s a flyer you have taken which means your ‘must be horrendous’ looks dramatic in the extreme .

Nearly every goal we've conceded this season has been avoidable, either individual or a collective %^*& up.
The Napoli second on Wednesday is the only one I've thought came from decent play. I can handle that, not shots going through keepers hands, awful back passes, losing your man at corners etc.

I;m sure at one point last season McGregor wasn't far off a goal every 2 shots faced in the league. When we were having that real bad spell.

The stats were going about last season and they were horrendous. Some games we were conceding from only 1 or 2 shots on target. Do you not remember the games McGregor just let things right through him? Like yesterday too.
