Dundee trying to sign Dorrans

Dundee have made an ambitious move to land Graham Dorrans.

The Championship promotion chasers are trying to tempt the former Rangers midfielder to Dens Park.

Dark Blues boss James McPake knows Dorrans well from their time at Livingston and is hoping that can help him pull off this major coup.

Dundee’s American owners have already backed McPake this summer and they are hoping they will strengthen his squad further with this marquee signing.

The 32-year-old is a free agent after he terminated his Rangers contract last week

Thought he was going to Kilmarnock ?

Would prefer he went to Dundee but would he be willing to drop down a league?

Just such a shame it didn't work out for him at Rangers. However, he seems like a really good guy as well as a cracking player on his day. I'd really like to see him going to a decent club. Somewhere he'll be treated right and not have to mingle with scum. Sadly there are very few left in Scotland.

I'd rather dorrans signed for Dundee. Than Kilmarnock.

I'd like to see the lad on a slightly bigger stage than that, he's played most of his career down south, if he gets a move to an SPL club and stays fit he could be a stand out, let people up here see how good a footballer he is. But whatever he does hope it works out for him.

Rather he done a turn for a top league side, too many ***s put in a performance of a lifetime against us borne out of pure hatred! Be nice to put the shoe on the other foot, Naismith and Lafferty have previously shown what can be achieved

Was meant to be, he'd agreed wages etc with them.. then they realised they couldn't afford his wages as it would breach their strict wage cap (not invidually for Graham, but collectively for the wage budget) - so they had to pull out. Thats why Rangers allowed Graham to terminate his contract as Killie pulled the plug on the deal on deadline day, so Rangers cancelled his contract to allow him more time to get himself a new club as it was clear he wasn't going to manage it before the deadline.

Very good of Rangers imo to allow for it. No idea if we gave him any sweeter/part of his contract or if it was just a benefit to both parties to cut it up and let him move on.

Would love to see him join Dundee, he'd get regular game time there and be their best player.

Dundee are going nowhere, might not be a good move for him, as for Kilmarnock, does he want to play on that shithole of a pitch every second week?

Would actually be a very sensible move for him. An easier league to get back up to speed, 1 year deal and if all goes well, it could put him back in the shop window with another bigger team.

Whatever happens, hope it works out for a good bluenose.

Agreed. Plus I don't mind Dundee so be good if he helped them back to the SPL.

Keeps fit and he'd be their star man. Doubt he'd drop to the championship though. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Without even mild exaggeration, he's found it physically impossible to stay fit for the last 5 years.

Why now, at 32, would that change?

Don't wish any ill on the guy, bar a few touches against Villareal & an ok showing v Motherwell he was a terrible signing

Dundee would be a good fit imo,in some ways better to play for a half decent club fighting for promotion who are trying to build than a Killie fighting relegation.
Might even do his coaching badges when with them as well even?

Hope he does well wherever he goes shame about his injury but I wish him the best of luck.

A half fit Graham Dorrans would be good enough for any other SPL team except us and them.

Wasn’t aware of that thanks for insight.
Better off at Dundee anyway.

McPake was on Sportsound tonight and suggested it was a lazy and obvious link to make. They've been very close friends for the last 15 years after playing together at Livingston and speak regularly. He said of course he would be interested if the club could afford him but he's already been very well backed by the board and knows Dorrans will have other offers too.

His mrs was telling folk on the last week of the window that he was going to Nottingham. I presume she meant Forest. Presume that aint happening now.
