Dundee Utd and Livingston opt out of VAR for cup games at weekend

Only two of this weekend's last 16 Scottish Cup ties will have VAR in operation.

That's despite four of the ties being played at Premiership grounds over Saturday and Sunday.
The technology is only available at top flight stadiums for cup matches. That has certainly proved to be a controversial topic both north and south of the border in terms of the inconsistency of its availability.
For this weekend, only Celtic, Rangers, Dundee United and Livingston have it at their disposal.

However, according to the Scottish Daily Express, only Celtic vs St Mirren and Rangers vs Partick Thistle will utilise VAR.
The video assistance is understood to cost teams around £10,000 per match to have in use.
Therefore, similar to the last round where some top flight teams opted against paying that fee, Dundee United vs Kilmarnock and Livingston vs Inverness will go ahead without it.

Peasants

Up here in the Scottish cup clubs can opt out if they have the technology and the games not selected for tv coverage.

Seems a bit of a farce to have the technology and not use it.

Hope the teams opting out of using VAR have a really bad refereeing call that puts them out of the SC

Joke they are penny pinching on VAR and hope it comes back and bites them on the arse

Hartson wanting VAR scrapped and now this is just the start of Bheast FC looking to get the trial of VAR in Scotland stopped

It’s clear as day they don’t want it due to them intimidation tactics not being as effective

When you think VAR ignored the blatant last minute penalty for Killie in the LC they still get dodgy decisions due to their antics and accusations of bias against them with their conspiracy theories they are downtrodden and oppressed

Honestly cannot recall the last time I saw this term used, outwith posts on FF about Scottish football.

Could say the same about 'hammer-throwers'.
Describe Shaun Rooney in 2 words without swearing?
Repeat with Ross Tokely
Declan Gallagher
Alan Power
Ryan Porteous

I can assure you hammer thrower has been used plenty in face to face football conversations

So, what we're saying is, if we get drawn against Timmy at the crime scene they can opt out of having it at that game , have Clancy as ref, Connor and Mulvaney flagging (or not ) and Robertson on VAR. hypothetical but open to misuse.

You obviously don't read much then. You can't slag people for using phrases that are common English and are widely used by the mainstream media in Scotland, which ironically is why they commonly pop up on FF.

All that shows is that the term professional football in Scotland is a joke.
Did they not vote it in ?

both are true

a league with one of the biggest derbies in world football getting less than the likes of the swedish league
& a league littered with no talent thugs that prosper

Rangers, and Celtic too, have outgrown sottish football to an astronomical level. Sad in many ways.

We are being held back in so many ways, much worse than it was previously. It feels like football needs huge changes, with the wealth of the top 6 in England, the whole breakaway from UEFA, our situation which is replicated in other leagues to varying degrees.

Original patter....eh....bro

Is Var centralised? I.e one centre at hampden with all games who have it being monitored by different officials.
