Eros Grezda

It’s equally a joke that players get given endless time and free passes because they are better than Sandaza and Argyriou. Those days are over and we need to think 55 not “at least we’re still alive”.

He's not getting free passes and endless time though. His season has been hampered by injuries. I think waiting until he's been injury free for a lengthy time before throwing him under a bus makes sense.

I'm also not sure I buy the "the manager sees him in training every day so he must not be doing enough". Can the same be said for McCrorie who goes weeks without getting into the match squad?

Maybe. I'd be inclined to give Barisic another chance.

It alarms me how after a few games half of this board is touting Flanagan as a serious option at left back.

It's worrying to me that half of this board wrote him off after a bad game against Cowdenbeath.

Like it or lump it he's been our best LB this season.

He played a big part in our progression in Europe this season and on the most part is solid.

Spot on. He looks fitter now than he did at the start of the season.

You've been on here long enough to know the script. He's went from useless to a must play in the space of about 3 weeks on here.

He was bombed out of the team due to his conditioning. He came back from time off and had put a lot of weight on and Gerrard went through him.

He's looking really lean now and a lot more like the player we thought we were getting. Fingers crossed the penny has finally dropped with him as he's the type of fullback who can do really well in Scotland.

Willing to give him a chance but to be honest I'll be very surprised if he ever does the business for us.

It's just another lazy FF cliché. Next up will be "heart of a mouse" then "anything north of 25p and a bottle of old spice and I'll drive him to the airport."

Somewhere in there, there'll be someone having a pop at either Mark Allen or Stewart Robertson, with the subtext being that they should get their jotters.

Yep, I remember quite a few people towards the tail end of last season saying we should hunt Morelos for £1-2m and sign Cummings with that money.

Lunacy.

Think we'd be making mistake loaning out Middleton.

Very valuable wide forward who with the right amount of minutes and quality players around him could be something special next season.

He's stalled (career that is, not his car) since he got here and I'd be surprised if he becomes a key player. On any showing I'm not quite sure of how he gets as many positive comments as what he does, and the one where he shone against Scotland for an abysmal Albania is pretty much 'Pena/Templeton esq' of people laying out a myth.

As with all players who come to the club , especially foreigners, it takes time to adjust .

Throw in the fact that he is recovering from a pretty bad injury and it makes the judgement all the more difficult.

We have seen nowhere near enough of him to call it yet .

That said , he has to start to up his game if and when called upon.

I keep thinking about what Cristian Panucci said about him- that he was a £20m player. Admittedly we've not seen it but not sure someone with the standing in the game of Panucci would say something like that just because.
I'm old enough to remember the first games of Mikhailichenko and he looked awful. His pedigree was considerably higher than Grezda's but a lot of our fans had already written him off.
Patience is not our collective strong point however lets see what pre-season brings before confining him to the bin.

The majority of our support define how good a player is on the last couple of games.

Played well against St Mirren and Dundee at home? Superstar.

Played badly away to Spartak Moscow? Not Rangers class - punt.

Didn't play in the last couple of games we won? Not needed - move him on.

Didn't play in the last couple of games we lost? Superstar - we need to get him fit.

Marcellus using a comparison with him and Miko is just so wrong.
He couldn't lace his boots .
We have fans unhappy about signing Hastie , but from what I've seen he's head and shoulders better .
looks like we been tucked up (Again) , really hope I'm wrong.

I disagree mate. Miko was absolutely hopeless the first few games he played. He was captain of the USSR and came from Serie A. I'm not saying their abilities were comparable more how they were judged by our support at a very early stage. I am suggesting that had we not had a bit of patience and perseverance with Miko then our memories of him would be markedly different.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Grezda is just a piss poor player.

You don’t need a pre-season for you to actually look comfortable with a ball at your feet.

He has no drive, no composure, and other players are reluctant to pass to him.

The gaffer has no time for him, not even letting him feature at this stage of the season.

Teenager Middleton was even subbed on whilst Grezda wasn’t even in the squad.
Have to agree, reluctantly. He doesnt look as though he has much about him - not much pace, no real tricks or ability to beat a player. I'm also unconvinced at the claims around his lack of fitness.

If we got a decent bid I would sell

Folk jumping on his driving record and ban. Its obvious Grezda is more used to driving 'rules' in Croatia. You dont generally have speed cameras anywhere just a cop with a radar gun you probably know, or he knows who you are, so will just wave you on your way. A small 'token of your appreciation' used to be the unwritten rule if you were stopped for speeding. I got off once because the cop was from same town as Prso and saw I was wearing a Rangers baseball cap;) Running red lights is also pretty common as well outside the bigger towns/cities. We have traffic lights up in my local village for roadworks right now and no-one bothers to stop except the foreigners. Not unusual to see 4 or so foreign cars at the stop light and a local car will just drive by them and go through the red.

Mon the Dado.:)

People should remember when Hateley 1st arrived carrying an injury but once fit he proved he was a player im not saying Grezda can have same impact but we should maybe wait and see if he can make it for us when fully fit before casting him aside.

He’s been out in Ayr socialising several times since Christmas with dodgy looking Albanian associates, maybe not the best company to keep.

I remember Naismith being dire when he came back from injury, was desperate for us to get rid of him and then he played a game at Ibrox at CM and he just took off from there. My point is some players need more time than others, we need to be more patient nowadays which is painfully ironic as it's the hardest time to be patient.

Crazy thread. In short for me he has the ability but needs to prove that he has the attitude.

Does this really justify racking up 12 points in 6 months. What he’s done is totally moronic, no debate.

It's certainly not something I'm going to wet my frillies over.

When he has played he has looked miles away from the player we need, dynamic, clever and willing to commit, he has not impressed me at all on the pitch however I am willing to give him a chance post pre season and see if he is any better if he gets that chance.

Some signings work, some don't, seems an alien thought to some on here but sometimes we just need to realise not every signing is going to be a find.

I have been far more impressed with Barisic than I have Grezda, Barisic at least you can tell has ability.

What I won't do is sit and get myself worked up because a young boy has accumulated some points and a ban in his spare time.

Surely Rangers have some sort of liaison officer who helps the foreign players when they first move other here? Local rules and customs should be part of that brief

I don’t think people are getting worked up, but it doesn’t reflect very well.

Hardly the behavior of a model pro.

Drunk Driving would not be the behaviour of a model pro.

Speeding, or using his phone at the wheel - nothing to get people worked up over and in this thread people are.

I do wonder how some people want our players to live, just stick them in a cupboard and bring them out on match days.

Hell no, we'd let them out for training as well. :) I fall into the 'they should behave like professional athletes' camp. We repeatedly hear about the footballer's 'short career'. Fair enough, it's not too much to ask them to give up the drugs and alcohol for that 'short career' then. Particularly if it helps them perform to a higher level. Might be a boring life but it brings them rewards in terms of cash and glory.

I agree.

Which is why driving the fast motor he owns at a fast speed doesn't bother me and shouldn't bother anyone else.

He could be out on the piss like Pena, Snorting gear like a suicidal Celtic player or Gambling like a junkie suicidal Celtic player.

I don't think he will make it with us, Ill make that judgement on his ability and not the fact he got done speeding a few times.

Ye sure mate, speeding and using your phone at the wheel isn’t an issue. Do you have any idea how many folk are killed each year due to mobile phones and speeding?

What a mental point to make.

He looks pretty average from his youtube highlights which is worrying. Normally they videos can make average players look like superstars

I hope he can find a new club this summer and take his pal barasic with him. 5-6million spent on the pair of them combined and they've not proven their worth all season.

Kenny Miller has various driving offences as well.

Loads of footballers get done for drink driving. Grezda's offences were related to speeding.

Plenty of model pros who have to be driven to the training ground.

I'd be very surprised if he arrived on the recommendation of Barisic, who himself had only signed 3 weeks earlier. I'd also be very surprised if he was someone that was on SG's radar or even aware existed as his career was nothing special up to that point.
A very baffling signing who I can see being moved on in the summer because he 'didn't settle'

He’s been out in Ayr socialising several times since Christmas with dodgy looking Albanian associates, maybe not the best company to keep.

I know he has been spending time in the company of Kosovan drug dealers, in and around Glasgow.

Don’t ask Dumani questions, but I have my concerns if that’s who he chooses to associate with.

He's really not been anywhere near as bad as being made out on here, hasn't set the heather alight but hasn't been "diabolical" either.

Usual FF drama queens.

They seem to get some perverse enjoyment out of it. Yeah, to date it’s a signing that hasn’t worked out, but diabolical etc? What a load of shite.

“Support”, Yeah right.

Grezda, is the Pena of this season. Anybody that has said we should keep him has obviously no seen him at games. He looks like he has the wrong boots on.

When it came out we were signing him the usual google/youtube searches came up with virtually nothing ... he's a dud alright.

People are just so selective with that sort of crap it’s hilarious, so you make a good point.

On the same note people are chomping at the bit to criticise these players but don’t want to criticise the gaffer so there’s no real mention from their detractors for the man who actually brought them here. Either that or they decide that Mark Allen bought the ones they didn’t fancy.

12 points in 6 months is the behavior of a clown. Gerrard clearly has a thing for the model pro - Arfield, Jack, Defoe etc. In fact all of the first choice seem to fit into this category. I don’t think the gaffer will look favourably on to it.

Its not an issue in the wider sense of it impacts on his ability to play football or something the club or the fans should be getting themselves involved in.

He is literally doing what the vast majority of road users do daily.

If you are seriously getting your knickers in a twist about it I hate to think of your thoughts on Albertz (heavy smoker) McCoist (Drunk Driving) Gazza (Alcohol) Goram etc etc etc etc

Gerrard was done for assault while pissed, he was no angel so lets not pretend he judges a player on the fact he drives his motor a bit fast.

The bampottery in this place is astounding at times.
