Europa - how far?

We did tremendous last year but Leverkusen were a different level. If we get to last 16 it would be a great achievement. We are still a work in progress. In saying that it's mind blowing how far we've come in the last few years under Stevie.

Depends on the draw.

However, I can't see us beyond the last 8.

Our defending in Europe is a long way off Walter-naccio though.

That is all Walter did to be fair, set up not to lose a game it was great to get to a European final but lets be honest, i watched all of those matches through my fingers. Benfica only had 2 shots on target yesterday i would say this team has a greater balance between attack and defence. Its just a pity we didnt have a couple of midfielders we could have brought on to tighten up for the last 20 mins.

Looking at the other teams and those 3rd in the CL I only fear about half a dozen sides so I'd hope for the quarter finals, depending on the draw of course.

Win the group and we should get a favourable draw in the last 32 and id fancy us against most 2nd place group teams.

After that we'll be relying on the luck of the draw.

Last 16 + 55 would be a remarkable achievement this season.

Qualify for the 2021/22 CL ... dreamland.

Obliteration of financial uncertainty & a raft of new opportunity in terms of players / commercialism.

I would be happy with the last 16 again and if the draw is favorable we could get past that.

All depends on how we finish the group. Ideally we win our last 2 games and finish top, which means we avoid the CL teams coming down.

Not necessarily......

If things stay the same we could draw Lokomotiv, Kiev, Krasnodar & Olympiacos from the CL.

All of whom I’d be very confident of beating, with an essence of comfort.

It’s a cliche but it really is the luck of the draw. If we can avoid Spurs, Leverkusen and some of the clubs dropping down from the CL then there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be looking for the last 16 again.

From a coefficient perspective, Kiev would be a good one to get given how close things are between Scotland and Ukraine.

I imagine fans of all remaining clubs in the competition will now be viewing us as a side they would like to avoid, on our day we have the quality to hurt any team that’s left in the tournament, especially over two legs. I don’t think anyone is of the view to prioritise the EL over the league, as financially beneficial as it is, but anything after getting out the group is a bonus.

If we don’t top the group, we’ll get knocked out in the first knockout round.

If we win the group, possibly the round after that.

Either way, it’s been hugely impressive (if we take away 20 minutes of games v Benfica)

We didn’t last season, finishing top would have seen us getting knocked out :))

I don't see any reason why we can't make the quarters. We've shown we're more than capable of going toe to toe with some of Europe's best.

Part of me would love Stevie to come againt Mourinho. They have an incredible amount of respect for each other and it'd be a great tie.

I wouldn't fear them either. They only scraped into the tournament and tend to leave a few big hitters out.

Right gents, based on what we’ve seen to this point, how far do we go? Give some reasoning if you can.

Im genuinely all in, Saying this is the year we get to the final!
The team spirit and workrate is enough to see us compete with the best of Europe, out with the very elite.
We're going to win the quadruple obviously

The draw is going to determine it. I’m not as concerned about a long run in Europe this year as we have a far stronger squad.
The money we can make is obviously important to the club so I expect us to be trying to get as far as we can. Last 16 would be a great achievement again.

I think for the momentum of the team we just keep playing one game at a time and see where we end up.
This team is capable of going all the way given the right draw.
It really depends on how we are doing domestically,if in a dog fight at the business end of the season then I think we'll prioritise the league. However if the scum collapse then we have a chance in Europe

Impossible to say.

Take right now as an example if groups finished in current positions. For topping our group we could face leverkusen again who sit 2nd.

With a bit of luck we could get to the final. But that’s only with the teams that are in it.

Once the Champions League teams come in, we don’t stand a chance IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got to the final, genuinely. Benfica are a side that theoretically should be near the finals and we should've taken 6 points off them. If we can learn to see out a game, you never know...

I know it's highly unlikely we will, I'm just saying, this side are more than capable against top quality opposition. We are not scared of any team.

The last time I thought we could go all the way was when we were in the UEFA cup, this Rangers side has a great belief about them in the same mould.

Gerrard's winning mentality is beginning to ingrain itself into all of our players, and it's an absolute pleasure to see. You can tell the players love playing on the European stage, and although there are more talented teams, you can't fault the desire in the squad. Determination can go a long way, I'm calling it right now we'll get to the semis at least.
