Europa League 2019/20 - to Gdansk, we're on our way!!

It’s vital we do well this year.

4 sellouts for our Qualifiers at home and then the 3 match package for the group stage is massive when you add all that up.

Folk saying chuck the Europa League - we can’t, we’re basically printing money if we make it to the group stage.

We get prize money for each qualifiying round, prize money for wins and draws in the group and add that onto 7 sellouts at Ibrox.

That’s astronomical for us.

We need a squad then - that European run killed our challenge for the league IMO

Absolutely but it might not be as easy to qualify as last year. We got lucky with pretty much every draw. One thing is we will have more settled team and a more balanced squad so should be able to handle the extra games better.

I don't think we're ever going to chuck the Europa League or anything like that.

The first two qualifying rounds are done and dusted before a league ball is kicked so they shouldn't really impact on that unless we are travelling back from the arse end of nowhere on a Thursday night with a match on Sunday lunchtime.

QR3 leg 1 is the Thursday before SPFL round 2 where we should be at home in the league match. QR3 leg 2 is the Thursday before League Cup weekend.

I think we'll have more quality in the depth of the squad to compete in the qualifying rounds and domestically this season.

If we get to the group stage again then it will be great financially but I still think we'll have the squad to cope with the demands of these games and be better prepared than last season when we were still trying to build a squad.

We enter in the 1st qualifying round along with the two other Scottish representatives. The draw for both the 1st and 2nd rounds is either on June 18 or 19 and:
  • 1st round ties will be played on July 11 and July 18
  • 2nd round ties on July 25 and August 1
We are confirmed as being seeded in both the first and second qualifying rounds.

The draw for round 3 takes place on July 22 with ties played on August 8 and August 15, with the 4th round draw on August 5 and ties played on August 22 and August 29.

If we make it that far we won't be seeded in round 3 or 4, but we could 'steal' a seeding for the 4th round by beating a seeded team in round 3 (as we did with Maribor last year).

Further updated. A few familiar faces in round 1 including Progres and Shkupi, and if we make it to round 3 the likes of Roma, Eintracht and Wolves lie in wait - although so too do Spartak and Rapid.

1st round - FK Prishtina (new country opponents)
2nd round - Crusaders
3rd round - Malmo or Partizan Belgrade

Despite being seeded - crusaders will struggle to get thru. Not the team of a few years ago. Would be great for a party mind you

agreed, we really should have qualified from that group too.

If the Edinburgh club win, then they would go into the second qualifying round of the Europa League with Rangers and whoever finishes third between Kilmarnock and Aberdeen going into the first round. Rangers in Europa League action this season(Image: SNS Group) That would leave Rangers playing their first Europa League game on July 11. However, if Celtic win the Scottish Cup then the last Europa League place would go to the team who finishes fourth in the league. That means Rangers would be the highest-ranked Scottish team to enter and would get into the second round. "

So is this pish or not?

100% Pish

Given that Legia Warsaw lost the league to a team with Tom Hateley in it.

That’s where we want to go in round 3

Rapid finished in the relegation half of the split so I doubt they are confirmed as having qualified yet. Think they play off against Sturm Graz to see who gets the spot

Would gladly take Austria Wien - I’m guessing they’d be seeded and they aren’t very good either

Another trip to Vienna would be amazing!
