Ex Barcelona President Bartomeu arrested

What a bizarre story.

BarçaGate alleges that Bartomeu hired a social media company, Uruguay-based I3 Ventures, to create fake accounts to publicly discredit people that he saw as his enemies. His victims included Xavi, Puyol, Messi, Gerard Pique, Pep Guardiola, Agusti Benedito, and Victor Font.

Im convinced similar happened to Gareth Bale at Madrid. It may or may not have included dodgy payments to multiple social media companies but there was a concerted PR war against him.

Hahaha how did he think it would go well for him attacking names like that.

If he was in Scotland he could just have got a seat on the SPFL board and discredited them publicly.

Is it a sentence under 2 years and you don't have to serve it in Spain? Sure it's something like that, seems like there making an example of him but nothing will come of it. Nothing ever seems to anyway with these sorts of folk

Using a social media company to discredit your top players because you're paranoid they are a threat to your job is mental in itself.

Then you realise he used club funds, through shell companies owns parts of the media company I3 Ventures, paid them 6 times the market value, made sure it went just under the financial threshold for reporting to the Barcelona board, split invoices so the contract wouldn't be tendered publicly.

The Spanish Authorities pretty much get to what they want him done for; fraud, embezzlement, money laundering. They get to pick their poison with this one. An absolute slam-dunk of a case and now the last two Barcelona presidents will have ended their reigns of terror in handcuffs with Senior Policeman escorting them out of the building.

Meanwhile, PriceWaterhouseCooper are, as ever, completely on the ball as auditors and cleared everything without any questions.

Its some list lol
Could you imagine someone at Rangers board room level hiring a PR company to create thousands of fake profiles to attack Walter Smith, Richard Gough, Ally McCoist, Willie Henderson, John Greig? Fans aren't stupid, they see through this kind of stuff immediately.

He should have learned with Rosell and Cruyff that the legends at Barca are gods and the fans won't stand for it.

I'm fairly sure this is more common than people think.

It doesn't just stop with russian interference in elections, it'll be involved in everything

Hell, you can see it on this forum whenever Gerrard lost a few games last season all the shills popped up. I would not be surprised if we done it aswell

Social media and fake news is so dangerous because of this, all it takes is a targeted attack and it starts changing the general publics perception

At the end of the day these clubs with large fan owned majorities that are election driven end up with people running the show exhibiting the exact same behaviour as you would see from politicians - and why would you expect anything different due to the incentives?

They are essentially the local bowling club dialled up to 100.

Regardless what they have been up to,I would hedge a bet they won’t be set up to be sent down to the lowest league..just a gut feeling
