Commonly known as Shuggie. Played in late 70’s IIRC. Think he scored against us in a cup final. I was but a bairn so memory may be a bit shaky.
And when their end rapidly emptied the chant from the other three sides was "Go home ya huns"Came out like men possesed in the second half, and won the day 3 - 2
A fine sportsman and brother.Sad and doleful tidings
Condolences to the family
We were probably on the the broomy bus that day Davie . .Back to now . I was talking in the work the other night . I was watching old Rangers games on you tube and the boy started talking about when he went to the games on the buses that left from the Dumbarton area ,said he went on a few and that SHUGGIE was his next door neighbour .Said that he was a great guy that although he was a celtic player always spoke well about the Rangers and said Davie Cooper was one of the best footballers he'd ever seen ,RIP Shug, can remember him scoring against us at Ibrox, they were 2 nil up at HT we came back and won 3-2.
He certainly didI'm sure Gordon Smith scored the winner?
From memory it was the Inchnadamph Hotel way up in Wester Ross.Remember him at Celtic. Seem to remember he had a hotel north of Inverness for a while ?
Not great news.
Could be he's being genuine and is just a young guy who hasn't heard of him.Give him the benefit of the doubt.Don’t be crass, leave the ignorance to them.

1977. One of my first ever old firm games. They were 2 up at half time - big Shuggy scored both. We came back second half and Gordon Smith got the winner late on - think he got 2 that dayRIP Shug, can remember him scoring against us at Ibrox, they were 2 nil up at HT we came back and won 3-2.
RIP
I remember that game didn’t know he scored but I am sure Gordon Smith scored for us.
Shuggy scored with 2 headers in the first half. We absolutely battered them in the second half with Davie Cooper dismantling them.

Cheers I thought he was younger I was mixing him up with another Scandinavian who played later than him. He must have been playing when I was a boy getting taken to games. Still 70 is not old now is it?
