Falkirk blew it

Makes sense barrymoped . People say the same about Aberdeen and of course that could be true too .
The other thing could be the politics .
I visit many towns for my work and can categorically state that this is the case.
There is absolutely no doubt that the hatred of Rangers has risen alongside the rise of Scottish Nationalism.
Far too many of our own support can live with that though.

That will be a boot in the sacks for the Gary Holt fan club on here then.
That’ll be nothing compared to the grief on here when Brian Rice’s Hamilton get relegated :D

I’m not even going to contemplate how folk on here are going to cope if John Hughes’s side go down with them via the play-offs

From 2013:

“Last year we were saved by selling a couple of players, mainly Murray Wallace to Huddersfield.

“This year we’ve been saved by reaching a Scottish Cup semi-final and having a couple of games against Rangers in the Cups early on.

“We can’t go on like that. - Falkirk Chairman

I grew up in the Falkirk area (Braes) and do find it sad how far they have fallen. I had long left Falkirk before the events of 2012 so I can't really comment on the zeal to see Rangers fall from Falkirk fans that some refer to in this thread. I can only say from experience that the Falkirk fans I knew as a kid would tend to have Rangers as their second team. Maybe things have changed since then?

Blew an 8 point lead. Not even a Championship play-off place, looks like another year in League One as well as the covid pandemic could hurt them, could be forced to go part-time if they're lucky.
From my own personal perspective, them being my "local team", I used to go and watch them now and again with some mates when The Rangers weren't playing.. used to stick some pocket money in their "Save the Bairns" campaign back when I was a youngster. Lost any kind of "soft spot" I had for them (along with a few Falkirk supporting mates) when they wished our club dead in 2012.

So f**k them.
I was the same and would go to the Brockville now and then, but now they made their bed so f☆☆k them too

Yep. My missus is a Thistle fan (an actual one, who went home and away for about 12 years, not those fake West end luvvie wank type) so she's delighted.
Missus you say? This is good to hear. And we applaud her dedication…but rules are rules! :p Pics!!

Alex Totten, David Holmes, Scott Arfield, David Hagen, David Weir.

I know at least two Rangers fans working for Falkirk.

We should have good links with Falkirk but their fans seem to hate us.

The thought actually crossed my mind that the Falkirk fans were quite prominent among the haters.

Nae luck !

Surely Falkirk won't need to go part time? Airdrie have been in that league for ages and they are still full-time. It's a bad state of affairs for a big club but I'm old enough to remember Kilmarnock in the third tier. I won't think they'll need to go part time but they need to get their act together because Queens Park are coming up and you've got ambitious non-league clubs and ex juniors on the way as well.

Falkirk are my 2nd team, grew up going to brockville often and still go to the stadium when I can. The hatred from falkirk fans to us is down to 2012, where everyone thought we were a punching bag and wanted their hit. They also think they are a bigger club than what they are, wanting john Hughes sacked after leading them to Scottish final and spl safety, is prime example. Still want them to do well, mostly from nostalgia reasons, I'll probably be the only person on here who is disappointed they didn't get promoted!!!

They hate all teams just like we hate all teams.

Terrible stadium in a terrible place with a plastic pitch.
As I’ve said before, Brockville was a great day out and they used to beat the Tims regular, when we went you could go in their end with no problems.
Sad how things have changed.
Was last there maybe Huistras last game?

I go to Bannatynes Falkirk, but prefer Stepps where you get the east end punters and a good laugh.
There so much up their own arse in Falkirk, no sense of humour ye ken.

I remember going to Brockville in the 1980’s.

My Dad hadn’t long taken me to Ibrox for the first time. Not long after he took me to the dump along with his brother. Still don’t know the reason as I don’t think my uncle supported Falkirk, maybe it was just a game somewhere local :D

I’m sure they drew 2-2 with Ayr United but my real memory is standing opposite their main stand and as decent it was compared to the rest of the hole, it wasn’t a patch on the Main stand I hadn’t long sat in at Ibrox.

I remember a game at Brockville from (I think) 86-87 season where they oversold tickets with no segregation, and the Falkirk chairman was quoted saying “it’ll be ok, most of our fans are Protestant”. Can anyone confirm?

I work in Falkirk and I know 2 who hate us and about 20 who watch us every TV game and about 20 who only care about Falkirk. I've been at rangers games in the Falkirk end without any grief. I know one who's got a soft spot for the Tim's and one who's still ranting about Novo's cup final goal.
Saying that they are mess of a club, same catchment as Perth and Dundee and twice the size of Inverness and Livingston but can't string a team together to get out of division 1. 3 sided stadium with a plastic pitch. They might be doomed.

Yes.... he said that.
I read that in a magazine going around at the time called Scottish Football if I remember correctly.

I still remember a large number of Falkirk fans running around the centre of Dunfermline with gas masks on. This was shortly after Dunfermlines captain Norrie McCathy died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

I appreciate we can't tar all fans with the same brush but I hope those sad bastards are hurting.

Huistra's last game, I sat with my uncle in the main stand at Brockville.
My uncle was a season ticket holder at the piggery. (Mum's sister's husband) But my old man used to work weekends and so he used to take me to Rangers games. Pretty decent guy.
I think we won 4-3? Could be wrong, was only about 14 or 15.
There was a guy in front of us with his bird who clearly hated us, shouting huns this and that. When we got the winner half the folk round him went nuts (clearly the stand was full of bears) and he disappeared.
Good memories of watching Falkirk at Brockville but those days are long gone for me. Rangers and Rangers only.

The cup final which we won 1-0, Novo goal, we were rotten that day. Still won the cup.
Falkirk demanded half of Hampden and couldn't sell all their tickets. So they passed them over to us.
Only reason I managed to get a ticket for that game.

The STV news report with Jim White is in YouTube.
I was there, we got escorted into the Falkirk end.

Was there not a campaign on here wanting their DJ sacked?

And throwing eyeballs at Dean Shiels.

My take on it as a Falkirk fan.
I'll try and keep at short as possible.
A lot of my friends were Rangers fans, barely knew any Celtic.
If a Falkirk game was called off ( or if we didnt have a game ) I would go and see Rangers.
When half time scores were announced, Rangers winning would get a cheer.... there used to be quite a number of Rangers fans who would go to Brockville occasionally.
Some songs sang at games would these days get us into a lot of trouble.
The Union Flag was a common sight.
Rangers games at Brockville during the Premier league times would be underlined amongst my friends as a all day session... mixture of Falkirk and Rangers fans in the Hope Street end.
For around 10 years from late 70's to late 80's Rangers would play a pre season game at Brockville...Rangers would give up any gate receipts they were due.
If on our way to a game it got called off... first choice game to go to was Rangers.
A lot changed since then, mostly down to the media brainwashing the population into believing that the only bad guys where at Ibrox ( I noticed this around the time when Graeme Souness took over )... without mentioning much about them over the other side.
I myself and quite a number of others didnt buy into it... but a lot did ( probably in line with the rest of Scotland )... it has snowballed since then into what I would call a witch hunt.
2012 came along and they grabbed that with both hands and ran with it.
It astonishes me that with all that's gone on behind those abusive doors ( east end lot ) , it's mainly been ignored by regular fans.
They should be boycotted at every chance and not given a penny from any supporter of any club.
I understand totally from posters here saying that Falkirk fans are a right shower of c***s...I know that because I stood next to them... but one thing they are is 100% committed and loyal to their club.
The majority of old school Falkirk fans are if the same mind as myself... the ones I know and associate with.
Right now I'm hurting like %^*& but we have to battle on.
Genuinely the only shining light for me this season has been Rangers winning the 55.... I'm not here to suck up to anyone, that's my genuine feelings.

I live in Falkirk too. Would normally go to at least one game.

Their fans are mental. They seem to enjoy panning their own team the most. Weird.

Am no sticking up for the arseholes but you’d think Rangers fans are angels on here.
Some stuff's beyond the pale. That and the Norrie McCarthy stuff is totally unacceptable. And we all know there are arseholes in every support. I have to live among these cunts and believe me they are a horrible shower.

Same fans who were throwing glass eyes at oor Dean, mocking his disability?

I sat in the Falkirk end during one of our games at Falkirk around 2012. The game we got bumped by a last minute freekick that went passed Alexander. Cup game I think.

Anyways most the folks in the home stand knew I was a Bear and couldn't give a monkey's and I didn't hear a single thing directed at me during or after the game.

I try to remain kind hearted towards Falkirk as I've lived here most my life despite being born in Kirkcaldy and having a soft spot for Raith.

Hopefully the indy element of Falkirk dies away shortly because back in the day it used to be a proud little club and I'd like to think it would have grown in stature had it not been fucked by the FA about its stadium size.

Clubs with half or three-quarters of a ground should be booted out of the league.

You go to the likes of Falkirk/Hamilton/Dumbarton/Inverness and it feels amateur as hell. Mind they used to show live games from that tip and they'd be wiping cameras every 10 seconds? No excuse.

I'm from up the braes as well, all these mining villages around Falkirk as I've known them have always been Ranger's first and Falkirk second, would probably explain why there's been a healthy flute band scene around here as well. A couple in our band as well, I also attended Falkirk games but would not anymore.
