Fans urged to call Rangers flop Carlos Pena’s new president if they spot him in pub

RANGERS flop Carlos Pena's new club's president has urged their fans to call him if they spot the Mexican international in the pub.

But he's been full of praise for the ex-Ibrox midfielder's behaviour since signing for Correcaminos.

Pena celebrated his 30th birthday this week and has got his career back on track after a disastrous last few years since his move to Ibrox two-and-a-half years ago.

He ended a 16-month exile from football last month when he signed for Correcaminos.

After being released by Rangers, he failed to kick a ball for Polish second division outfit GKS Tychy, because of a dispute over his wages.

Pena's contract at Ibrox was terminated by mutual consent after two disastrous loan spells in Mexico blighted by alcohol problems.

And Correcaminos president, Miguel Mansur, has underlined the unusual way he can guarantee Pena keeps on track in Mexico.

He said: "When he signed him, I was very clear with him and warned him we'd be watching him.

"He won't relapse here because of the fans.

"Here in Ciudad Victoria, the people will look after him and protect him.

I did a forum with the fans when he signed and told them that if any of them spotted him in a bar or drinking, they had to go straight to me immediately and tell me.

Do you know how many fans have contacted me since then? None.

"He is committed to football and this club. He loves his family too and I believe he is more settled now than he's ever been.

"Carlos is a leader in the dressing room and it's a privilege to work with him."

Mental that folk were still calling him a player after seeing him play for us.
"A Rolls-Royce of a footballer."

I can't recall any poor former player from any club being reported on as much as Pena. Its almost as if we are not allowed to forget

Take it this is from the Record.
The obvious comparison, which you would expect any journalist who knows their history of Scottish football, is with BJK.
BJK had a host of people who would phone him if the ugly little ginger winger went into various pubs in Lanarkshire. He received many calls and JJ had to be escorted out, or encouraged to leave, a number of establishments at his boss's request.
Compare with Pena's boss - who has had no calls.
Probably unfair to compare the two in footballing terms but CP is no longer relevant in Scottish Football so if they consider this story has some merit then the comparison likewise has merit.

He ran like he was towing a caravan but if he wasn’t an alcoholic.. had a few decent moments and that’s it.. Pedros pal

It was being weighed down by all the alcohol - Nobody could say that was good signing, absolute disastrous waste of resources

I wonder if the fans of Correcaminos will straight up deny it is him when pics are posted of him out in pubs. Or was that just an FF thing. :D

What a mad episode. You have to laugh. Until you remember how much it cost us.

I did spot him pished in a pub a day and a half before our first game of the season and made the mistake of posting it on here. The staunchers then set about me with....

'You are a lapdog for the media'
'You are a timposter'
'How do you know he was pissed?'
'How do you know he was not having a meal'
'Pic's' or it didn't happen'

You know who you are.

So a word of caution for the fans of his new club. If you see him sitting bleary eyed in a boozer, don't tell your, erm, fellow fans online because they will know better than you. Even if you did witness it with your own eyes.

You could have just written "Told ye so"

Cans of special brew will be hanging out the pockets long before he gets to the pub.

The mentally challenged media will continue to mention him, that is unless he becomes a roaring success at his new club. We got the same with Caixinha, up until he almost won the title with Cruz Azul, at which point the scum at the Daily Record and the Sun went very quiet about him.

This isn't news for them, it's just another opportunity for them to put the boot in to something Rangers related.

I never doubted you mate based on what a Mexican pal of mine told me about him before he came.

With a little bit of research you would know he was always going to be a gamble....it was mental what Pedro paid for the gamble though....

What pub was he in?

Never before have the Rangers support placed so much importance upon the goals per minute statistic in a futile bid to make an absolute shite player appear less shite.

The Lab, just off Buchanan Street. He’d been in there every day for a few pints and then went in on the Friday and got pished.

We kicked off the season at Fir Park on the Sunday at 12:00.

The media enjoy making a mockery out of him because he played for us, which is sad really when the guy clearly has issues. Notice the difference in reporting when it’s one of their lot going through troubled times. Like night and day.

An absolutely mind boggling signing. The whole Pedro experiment will continue to boggle my mind until my last breath.

So it looks like he's getting his demons under control given the President says no one has called.

I looked him up recently and he's been playing for them and they were near the top of their league.

Still, nice of the rags to put a negative slant on the story...

No one will report him if he buys the drinks all round. Miss his turn and it’s time to grass.
Hope he has mastered his problem but not an easy thing to do though.
