Feyenoord fans march to Ibrox - more double standards from Police Scotland

I take it the ban on drinking alcohol outside in Glasgow city centre was just disregarded by the cops?

Contrast this with the over zealous measures they take to check supporters buses and even behind walls etc for the possibility of Rangers fans having a quick pre match bottle of beer.
%^*& the feyenoord, bunch of mammy boys.
They got sent packing when we gubbed them girfut :))

They just seem so lame. Made all sorts of "threats" and did %^*& all it was like they where all 16 or something. The cops are so inconsistent I've been let off and fined so many times for drinking on the street. Police Scotland are so strange.

Appreciate the double standards stuff.

But also an element of sensible policing. Why bother charging in to grab a few cans?

It’s only then likely to escalate.

Yeah I’m all for pointing out double standards but in this case it’s sensible policing. I dare say some countries abroad will relax laws on our travelling support. Although some will go all robocop on us as we have seen often.

Double standards that for sure

The stopping buses and searching for drink is unreal

Anyone stopped drinking in street and fined just point them to direction of this video and ask why PS allowed dozens to be openly drinking and not one attempt to stop it

I've seen Scotland fans openly drinking alcohol in front of the police in Glasgow city centre and they couldn't care less.

Police Scotland are not there to protect the public, they are there to do the work of the Scottish Nazi governments bidding.

It is clear to all concerned that the political landscape in Scotland is similar to Germany in the 1930s and the Scottish people are sleepwalking into a dictatorship run by Republicans who will eventually turn their troops on those that dissent against their treachery.

The warning signs are there for all to see and I fear that now they have got those foothold and ensuring that the people are PC, force feeding kids LBGT rights in school and minority rights above the rights of the majority there will only be one outcome, a nation that George Orwell predicted many years ago.

Pretty crap and boring march tbh, the follow up video is even more embarrassing, wee boys in hoodies at half time plus the pathetic mentally challengeds performance.

They must have been drinking alcohol free lager, were tired after the long walk, and lost their voices singing in the street.
Like their team they froze in the Ibrox atmosphere. They are about as hard as a cadaver's cock in a viagra drought.

They spent all pre game trying to be ‘well hard’.
They got well beaten.
They’ve now spent a fair bit post game complaining we were too intimidating.

Thanks for coming, bye now.

Wow. That escalated quickly.

Sensible policing surely. You expect them to wade in to a group of Feyenoord fans for having a few cans on the street?

So If the Rangers fans all stand in a big crowd walking to the game , we will be allowed to drink booze openly ?

so many missing the point here it’s the glaring double standards

Just think GCC are the issue here. We're a footballing city with international and European fans visiting regularly. I think it's about time we started acting like it.

We should be welcoming our guests, especially when there are large numbers expected. A designated area in the city centre where fans can congregate both the night before and on the day, to have a few drinks and relax and mix with some locals, creating a great atmosphere instead of being left to wander the streets. CCTV and a visible but minimal un-intimidating police presence (on show at least) and even a stall/contact point where both the local and visiting officers and even Rangers club reps can deal with any issues (lost passports, crimes, lost tickets etc.) Then on match day a controlled march to and from the stadium with their beers in hand.

I'm sure there would be plenty commercial benefits to this which would more than cover the costs as well as make it easier for police, locals & visitors to create enjoy the safest, friendliest environment possible and everyone goes home happy, even after their teams get stuffed of course

If the laws don't allow for this, then change them.

Edit: Just to add. The laws should be exactly the same for home team fan zones too.

If we walked to the game en masse, aswe have done, the police would not get involved.

When we go abroad and take over squares etc, do you think the police would let that go for locals on a random day? I really doubt it. They let it go because they turn a blind eye knowing that it's more hassle than it's worth.

Honestly, are you really wanting fans of any team to be huckled by cops for drinking a can on the way to the game like that?

Is it sensible

Policing to stop a bus full of football fans on their way to a football match to check if anyone has sneaked on a couple of cans of beer for the journey?

No, I think that's a ridiculous law. But that's not the question here is it? It's about expecting/wanting the cops to charge in to a big group of Feyenoord for having a can of beer.

Spoke to Police in George Square before the game.
I take it's ok to drink on the streets of Glasgow now ?

"Apparently so"

Seen some with half and half scarves on,so I'm not gonna get upset about it. Wasn't as if they were using the cans as missiles. To be fair having been abroad many a time,we get away with plenty and I don't think its worth the cost of any charges being made for a trivial thing, unlike the Roma fans who committed a serious offence at annfield
On a lighter note, the March looked bigger than the separatist ones we have to endure.

Some Bears have really shown themselves as quite pathetic wee wussies surrounding this tie. Wanting people lifted for everything and anything, scared of what Feyenoord were going to do.

Honestly can't believe people want them lifted for drinking on the street.

Polis attitude in Vienna back up your theory, they kept a discreet distance the night before the game, then helped out on match day,and laying on transport etc.

A lot of posters would be hiding under their beds if they knew half the shit that goes on when we travel.

Drinking beer in the street, phone the polis!

Glad our away support abroad don't have this attitude and just enjoy the trips.

I don't think people want them arrested it's a stupid law.
They should concentrate on the people who are causing a problem and not have a blanket ban.

Quite. Police Scotland are not exactly friends of ours but of course they are not pulling people up for this. Sure way to start trouble.
