First trip to Hamburg

End of month travelling to Hamburg for my first game,looking forward to it,staying close to the Reeperbahn.
Any advice appreciated regards getting about good bars and eating places.

What's the best way to get from the Tankstelle pub up to the ground ?

Maybe landing at 16:25 are you? Worth sitting near front of plane as the other week they never opened the back exit, just help if in a dash for the 18:30 kick off.

Same as us,game kicks off at 5.30 we'd planned to go to Tankstelle before game but it says on their website doesn't open til 6pm on the Friday.
Opens at 12 on the Saturday hopefully they will show the Rangers game that evening.

Was over a fortnight ago and Hamburg were away so ended up at Altona 93 for a game.

Aye was 10 or so lads heading to Kaiserslautern match for 18:30 spread out over back few rows, plane was on time so no real problem but any delays it would be a real pest.

A stroll down Herberstrasse is always pleasant, just don’t forget your antibiotics and antivirals.

The wee lane directly across from the Tankstelle has some exceptional night time viewing.

Son is desperate to go see a Hamburg game, he is 16 right enough so perhaps he has other sights he would rather go see over there as mentioned above ...but in all seriousness I'd like to take him at some point, just don't know where to begin, where is good to stay and best way of travelling to the stadium?

Living 3 hours north of Hamborg i started to looking into getting tickets for me and my two younger ones but it seemed like it was close to impossible through the official ticket channels.

We got them online through offical ticket office,got them as soon as they went on general realise.

Been a few times.Wear your colours to the game.Hamburg boys will give you a great welcome.Superb fans and stadium but bear in mind where you’re staying is Close to st Pauli area

Just noticed that both easyJet and Ryanair appear to have stopped flights from Edinburgh to Hamburg. Checked both apps and also Skyscanner!! It was a favourite city break for me.

Been known a while now that, Manchester Fri to Sun through easyjet/germanwings has gone higher as a result.

I went for a stag a few years back and there is a cracking bar down on the docks which was an artificial beach, it was class but don’t know if it is still there or if it would be much fun in the pissing rain walking about in wet sand.

Not quite Belfast, but still brutal.

Great place for a weekend. Great stadium and a very good atmosphere.

Nightlife great in Hamburg. Folk generally very friendly and lots to see and do.

Tankstell toilets would give trainspotting toilets a run for their money.

They pay 200 euros a day for a window on that street, it is buy 5 days a week get 1 free. 800 euros a fair overhead to start with!

Tankstelle or London pub, you'll be looked after in the tankstelle.

Train from Reeperbahn to Stellingen for the match, HSV fans gather outside Stellingen station, few bars there or you can get a carry out from the shop next to the station.

Shuttle busses run from to the stadium free of charge with your match ticket, or you can walk it in about 25 minutes.

Stellingen is the best place to be pre match.

Shuttle Imbiss 'pub' is my favourite.
