Football fans to return to stadiums next month

Nonsense.
Sturgeon doesn’t give a toss about the Shettlestons.
There’s not a hope in hell the piggery will be full in October. A quarter full at absolute best.

Mate, I respect every Bluenose but you could not possibly be more wrong - the SNP's entire election strategy is to win the RC block vote, and they do so by making Rangers a strawman/composite for the Union and everything that the SNP say is bad about the Union is attributed to Rangers.

To say the SNP dont care about Celtic is insanity, sorry mate.

I couldn’t tell you BB. Could actually be true. Not sure if the rest of the full time teams could be on furlough still.
Just heard that the tarts were the only non prem in training.
all other teams taking advantage of furlough until they have to pay staff.

Nope, you’ve got this completely wrong. You really believe that the current majority party in Scotland gives a damn or second thought about anything to do with Rangers/them? The only people that align us with the Union and them with RC is, shockingly, us and them. The rest of the country doesn’t care about football.

The SNP don’t care about football - us or them.

We are Scotlands biggest club yet despite having nearly 50 Mps and 60 Odd Msps i couldnt name you one SNP politician who follow us yet there are many of them declaring their love for the mentally challengeds.

so why doesn’t the justice secretary do something about child abuse at the piggery ???? Why doesn’t splurgeon do something about it ???? Why is nearly every snp msp a Irish Republican follower ??? There is no coincidence! They need the Roman Catholic vote for independence. They hate rangers and PUL community with every fibre in them and if you don’t believe that then your as gullible as those non football fans you talk of that vote for them!

This is true. The plan is test events beginning from August 24th.

A bit strange when she's been yakking that footy is on a yellow card and next issue is a red.
Defo the players mate, they are in a privileged position and a few abuse it. I drive a bus and can get 19 on a single decker with 2 feet inbetween them! We should absolutely be allowed back in to the games, it's getting right on my tits! Going on those numbers, and without taking into account a bus is an enclosed space compared to a stadium, we should be getting 25k in at games.

The boot and the syfa have fukked up grass roots footy for the young ones....letting fans in before a bunch of u16's can play is awe back to front for me.

Celtic say they are more than a club. And they are right.

they are a cult. They are as one with the Catholic Church.

is it a coincidence that child abuse is as rife at Celtic as it is within the Catholic Church? Absolutely not.

there is a reason the Scottish government chose not to investigate religious bodies and sporting bodies for current and historical child abuse. They knew what they find. They knew it would cause a clusterfuck that would cost them hundreds of thousands of votes.

does sturgeon and her cronies sit there with Celtic tops on when they are playing illegible players? I can’t see it. But they know how to avoid alienating a massive chunk of their committed voters and it sure as hell isnt to look out for our fan base.

anyone who thinks that the snp wont look out for their interests is, quite frankly, bonkers.

Correct PS.

The SNP have been absolutely Hooring themselves for a few years now for the Romanist vote.

Hence why no mention of 60 years of Child Rape at that sordid club amongst other things never brought up involving offending Papes.

We may have to agree to disagree here.

Don’t get me wrong, her first objective is and always will be independence. That is clear. But she already knows she has the block RC vote regardless. They are not going to vote against her because they can’t get into Celtic park!

She has shown during this crisis that she is totally risk averse, and there’s no getting round it, full stadiums is a risk, one that I’m convinced she wont take anytime soon .
I genuinely think the absolute most we will see is a 1/4 full piggery in October, 1/2 at an absolute push by Christmas.

This is what Accy Stanley are saying about it down south

"We are currently working though Government guidelines and necessary planning on playing matches without spectators and also with spectators.

We will have to adapt the stadium to be able to meet the required standards, including adding temporary changing rooms, specialised zones for the match day players, coaches and medical staff, zones for the press and admin staff and zones outside the stadium for parking and stewarding needs. All of these need to be in place and sanctioned before we can play a game.

The Sky Bet League One fixtures are being released on Friday 21st August at 9am and all our initial planning is based around no supporters being allowed into the stadium until 3rd October at the earliest."

Time to start treating people like adults
If you're nervous about going don't go but for those that want to should be able to
Risk sitting basically outside at a football match is much less than indoors in a bar or restaurant
It’s not that simple, 50k people in close proximity isn’t likely to happen for a long time. It’s nit just about you deciding and I don’t. Youre increasing the chances of it spreading end of

Widely reported this morning, test events to happen in coming weeks, fans to be allowed in when English season starts on Sept 12, full rollout expected for October.
There is optimism and there is this post here.
I’ve followed everything that’s been going on since lock down - I think there is actually zero chance (as in 0%) of fans being allowed back into grounds in 2020.
Think about this for even a minute I’m sure you’ll agree.

I don’t agree. And I’ve thought about it. There is no reason lower league clubs can’t have their few hundred in. There is no reason we can’t have a good few thousand in.

feck it, there’s an argument to be said that we should just rock on

Excellent post BB, they hate us with a passion.

Given the fact the government have plans in place to make it happen, hence the reason for the thread, then obviously there is a fair chance it will happen, to say there is zero chance is plain daft.

If you have followed everything as you think you have then you will surely know things change quickly, I feel like I’m repeating myself constantly here, only a few months ago it was Armageddon, sanctimonious, preaching know it all posters were telling us all was doomed, life was basically on hold, there would be no football of any kind at all this year, probably most of next year too (one poster even suggested 2023) it was embarrassing to even think there would be apparently, the same folk told us null and void was also happening, but that’s another argument, anyway - football started back across Europe within weeks, some countries have started to let fans back, France, Holland etc.

I’m a gambling man and if pushed would stake a sizeable amount on fans being in grounds before the years out.

Simple solution, join a party and stand as a candidate. Anyone can do it.

I long for the day when we're all allowed back into stadiums, but without a vaccine I just can't see it.

Unless a vaccine is going to be on it's way sooner rather than later?

If this happens there’ll be a second spike and it’ll get shut down again, would make sense to just have it closed doors for the rest of the season imo

If we don’t let fans back in until/unless there’s a vaccine, what do we do if a vaccine never comes? Do we just never have fans back inside stadiums again?

Even without a vaccine, we can’t live in fear of this virus forever.

Just my opinion but immediate result testing will be closer than a vaccine, when people can take tests on the door to give them entry into crowded places then events could take place again. If we open up events that have people sitting in close proximity without testing it kind of feels like we are tempting fate

Or some form of test certification, I think we’ll get to a stage where people are tested every couple of weeks and be given the all clear to attend events

Sense we will never agree on this but there needs to be serious work done on the real costs of all these restrictions versus the benefits
I don't know the profile in Scotland but in HK the average age of those dying is 82 (HK life expectancy is 84) and most of those dying already have chronic underlying conditions
How long do you shut down an economy and put people's life on hold to give a few extra months of a poor quality life to elderly patients?
The young and reasonably fit are not dying in huge numbers from this virus
The bigger risk to them is probably the car journey to the game than catching and dying from the virus
Every corona death is treated like a tragedy while people go on dying of numerous other diseases (some because they had to miss medical appointments due to lockdown) unreported

Fair points and they‘re the main reason we’ve started to ease lockdown. The real fear lies in the unknown effect of a second wave, will the virus mutate or weaken. That’s why the WHO are so nervous.
if there is a second wave in the winter and it’s worse than the first just watch all the people blaming the government for allowing football crowds to return,

Al of this optimism is based on the assumption that the cv19 situation is continually improving or at least stable... I'm not convinced that is the most likely situation over the season and will be happy if we can just get through the season, playing all games, with a full squad and winning #55

Do you understand the concept of a viral pandemic ?
I do but I don't believe the correct response is to assume everyone will get it and die from it and therefore the economy must be shut down and everyone kept as prisoners in their houses.
The government has done a great job of demonstrating how to generate fear and how easy it is once you do so to remove all personal freedom
We have come a long way from December when the pub in Glasgow was giving free masks with bottles of corona as a joke when it was only Chinese who were dying from it
Do you understand the concept of a viral pandemic ?
yes why Do you need someone to explain it to you?

In an ideal world the government would be making decisions based on what's best for the country and not what allows them to avoid blame
Whilst I appreciate that it is unlikely what I find surprising is that people are willing to sacrifice their freedom so the government can avoid blame.
There could be a second wave (we've had 3 in HK) and it could be worse than the first. On the other there may not be and it might not be. I think the correct response is to be better prepared for that possibility and not destroying people's lives in an effort to avoid blame

I think you’ll find that the SNP are not responsible for raising criminal investigations. That lies within the remit of Police Scotland and the CPS. If you genuinely believe that the SNP would knowingly ignore a child abuse ring, then I have no more words...

We had our highest number of positive cases for two months in the UK yesterday.

Most companies aren’t even countenancing resuming office working at the minute.

Why are people so confident we’ll be back in stadia imminently?

Who says a vaccine will work? And what if it doesn't? Remain in Limbo indefinitely? No chance IMO the country financially can't afford it. 98% survival rates, it's sadly had its pound of flesh taking out the elderly and people who were already ill. It's time to move on.

The positive results are due to more testing. The fact that more positive tests are being identified along side hospital admissions and deaths being down tells me we are over the worst.

Right. Down to testing and not people taking more liberties.

Totally agree.

The age profile of Covid deaths in Scotland shows zero deaths of under 15s and less than 400 in under 65s.

It’s time to get the healthy majority of the population working and living again.

If folk do not want to go the football, shops or whatever then fine stay at home if that’s your choice.

I reckon they're going to wait and see what happens with the schools back.
1000 pupils in a typical secondary school, where there's no social distancing between pupils and no common approach to safety measures from school to school has the potential to go wrong by September/October.
Already there's been 3 schools where pupils have tested positive, with the first minister coming out and saying to young people to avoid house parties at the weekends due to the risks but happily send them into school on the Monday.
If it doesn't lead to more spikes then I can see them starting to trial fans into games.

I agree With those say we can’t stay in limbo indefinitely.

Where they’re sadly mistaken is the notion that attending football matches will be anything like near the top of normality priorities.

We are nowhere near getting back to allowing folks back into football grounds, let's not kid ourselves. And even if a limited number of fans were allowed back, socially-distanced possibly wearing masks, is that the football experience we knew and loved? Never mind the issues of getting to the match, pubs etc.

The sooner this disaster of a year for humankind is over the better

Folk will go when either not feeling well or they might not have symptoms. You have 8 folk directly round you in 360 degrees so could potentially pass it on to 8 folk who could pass on to more.

I'll be amazed if they open up before November. She will see how it goes down south for a month rather than her regular 2 week delay but I think infections will jump up down south.

When we are allowed back we will be put in family groups inside the stadium. So if you have a ticket in the Govan and you're immediate family member has one for the Enclosure, they will be put together. There will be social distancing internally. There's also got to be a "one way" system set up alongside emergency exiting. Corporate and VIP will be first to get access. Then it will be almost like a lottery imo whose in next.

I mentioned the creeping increase with infections because governments the World over are using this to start imposing restrictions once again, perhaps not full lockdown but IMHO we are unlikely to see large numbers in attendance at sporting events until we are in control of this.
I don't think infections necessarily are increasing, we are just learning how to target testing better, besides, most infections being identified are mild or asymptomatic cases. If hospital admissions continue to decline which ultimately equals less deaths then there's no reason why we shouldn't get things back to normal slowly but surely.
