Forest Green chairman talking about Troy Deeney's stint as manager

How can this guy be running a successful business but seem like a complete fucking idiot at the same time?

I bet the DOF is still employed despite that huge blunder. I mean, why anyone would think offering Troy Deeney a management job is a good idea?

In Troy Deeneys head he thinks he was up there with Henry as a Premier League great. He probably thought he was going to be the next Pep when he made his first footsteps into management. Talksport employs some right bellends but Deeney is the biggest bellend of the lot and that takes some doing.

Everything he does is virtue signalling. He probably thought he would be a traillblazer and give a black man a management job. It would have been done with social media in mind

Normally I'm sceptical of the "every single black manager is a diversity hire/Rooney Rule requirement" thing but with FGR who are vocally pro-BLM etc. and hired a woman to coach the men's team it definitely would NOT surprise me if this was the case here.

Hired a female manager and replaced her before they played any competitive games

Deeney lasts 4 games as manager

Duncan Ferguson got them a load of publicity, but he only lasted a handful of games

He's either very unlucky with his hires, or it's a publicity stunt. It's not improving the team

Christ knows why Talksport seem hell bent on giving Deeney the platform they do, he is a moron with an ego the size of Texas.

Incredible that guy owns a football club.

In fairness, it doesn’t seem a million miles off some of the decision making at our club over the last few years.

Ideas on the back of a fag packet stuff.
