Former detective links murder of Alistair Wilson to finances of Livingston

A former detective investigating the unsolved murder of a banker 14 years ago has claimed the killing could be linked to the finances of a Premiership football club. Alistair Wilson, a father-of-two who worked for the Bank of Scotland, was shot on his own doorstep in Nairn in November 2004, but despite a high-profile police investigation his killer has never been found

Peter Bleksley, a former Metropolitan Police officer, claims Mr Wilson’s murder may be linked to his work at the bank and its involvement in the finances of Livingston FC, which went into administration in 2004. Mr Bleksley makes a series of claims about Mr Wilson’s murder in a new book, including naming an alleged suspect and concluding the gunman must have had a getaway driver on the night of the shooting.

He said: “If Alistair’s murder was connected in any way to the finances of Livingston then clearly that would involve financial investigations. I did some research and discovered that while they had a meteoric rise on the pitch, their finances were calamitous off the pitch. “I looked at the information I had and passed it on to the police because it concerned complex financial matters that they were best placed to deal with.”

Mr Wilson was shot three times at close range by a man wearing a baseball cap and later died in hospital. Commenting on the claims made by Mr Bleksley, Detective Superintendent Graeme Mackie said: “The investigation into the murder of Alistair Wilson is active and we continue to review several possible motives around his death and will investigate any new information we receive

“As this is an ongoing, active investigation, we are unable to comment on speculation and we cannot share sensitive material with a member of the public. “Officers from the enquiry team have previously met and corresponded with Mr Bleksley, when he was invited to share any new information he has with us. To date, he has declined to do so.

“Mr Bleksley and his publishing company also declined to provide an advance copy of his book to support Alistair Wilson’s family when approached by Police Scotland on their behalf.” He added: “Our priority is to solve this murder in order to bring the person responsible to justice, for the sake of Alistair’s family who understandably want answers.”

A Livingston FC spokesman said no-one involved in the running of the club in 2004 was still associated with it

From 2004...........................

The Lionheart consortium, headed by Irish tycoon Pearse Flynn, has been chosen by administrators Kroll as the group most likely to satisfy the needs of both creditors.

To leave administration, the current major shareholders, former chairman Dominic Keane and director John McGuiness, must agree to transfer their shares to the new owners and creditors will also need to approve a Company Voluntary Arrangement, accepting a reduced proportion of their debts.

Was it Dominic Keane and his papish friends who were in charge of Livingston then?

Got involved in the 90's with Livi.

Saw him in court.

FORMER Celtic director and Livingston chairman Dominic Keane was today cleared of a £2.3 million fraud at the High Court in Edinburgh. He was accused of duping lottery winner John McGuinness and businessman William Haughey into a fraudulent loan refinancing deal to develop the club.

Win the lottery
Put money into a football club
Just no!
But Livingston, no no no.

The guy from Bank of Scotland, who ran Dunfermline, before running a mile, was he not involved with Livi as well.

Exactly!
I remember at the time really feeling quite sorry for the guy as he was obviously a big Livingston fan that had a huge windfall and let his heart rule his head.
Be honest, how many of us has dreamt about winning mega-millions and how much we'd pump into Rangers?
He certainly didn't seem the brightest of sparks but to see him consumed by the sharks circulating that club at that time was heartbreaking.

there is a podcast on BBC radio Scotland on the whole thing. I think its called Doorstep murder. pretty decent imo.
para military connections too.
Don't wish to derail the thread but there are rumours of sex abuse at one major "Scottish" football club. Perhaps they could do a podcast on that. As I say, nothing substantiated at the moment.

Pretty certain it was the time these Italians were in charge.

Angelo Massone, Tommaso Bruno, Alessandro Di Mattia, and Tommaso Angelin

Heavy rumours at the time the sole purpose of Livingston to them was money laundering however not sure of the timeline of there ownership and the murder.

**EDIT They took over in 2008 so well after the murder.**

Why would Haughey need to shaft him? Haughey is wealthy in his own right. Keane was the one living off the Livingston money.

Wasn’t the guy that won the lottery a beggar but chose to ‘invest’ in Livingston because of Keane?

Aye, it was Keane who was taken to court over the alleged fraud against McGuiness and Haughey IIRC

Greeting face blamed it all on Big Bad Wullie.

The little piggie also helped himself to the Colonel Gee millions as well and then bawled his eyes out in court. The kind of greedy individual that brought RBS and BoS to their knees.

He has always been a big Celtic fan, Keane persuaded him to buy in to Livi.

It was Haughley, he duped John into putting his money in and left him with next to nothing. Someone he looked upon as a good friend and business colleague and he completely shafted him.

I never for a moment thought I'd ever be reading about that murder in the Bear Pit. The Lounge, of course, but the Bear Pit? Maybe the reason for Alistair Wilson's murder is in plain sight and so obvious that no-one can see it?

Gough told a family member of mine he'd have left the day after he joined if he could've.

Most unprofessional squad & set-up he said he'd ever encountered.

He was never a big Livingston fan in fact he wasn't any kind of Livingston fan. He was a Celtc fan and was looking to invest in Celtc to get a seat on the board but they knocked him back. Sandy Clark was manager of Hamilton Accies at the time and Sandy was trying to get him to invest in the Accies but he chose to go with Keane.

In what way was Haughey a good friend and business colleague of John McGuinness, a hospital porter that won the Lottery?

As said, Keane was the one who lived the high life with other people's money.

Only going by what the man himself told me.

Don't know if he still lives in the bungalow in Aikenhead Road, but, when he was living the high life, there was always at least 2 4x4s in the driveway with the personal registration plates beginning DOM.

Think he also had the travel agency "Keane to Travel",in the Mitchell Arcade in Rutherglen.

On a sidenote, often people will remark that ,so and so,had a face like a halloween cake, but,Dominic Keane's face eas the epitome of the term halloween cake face.

The story goes that it signed everything over to his kids and claimed bankruptcy. First his kids knew of it was when he failed to return home

Well,
Hope to fuck so...

Did he not agree to be guarantor for Livi & Keane took him to the cleaners?

If so, what a mug...

yes, and Willie Haughey, who apparently doesn't talk to him anymore, paid for all the private school fees for the Keane Children... Keane was a pasty for Haughey.

As understand it after it started going down the tubes Haughey sued his accountant for showing Livingston as a "related party disclosure" on the city refrigeration accounts.
