Forth Valley Ahead Of Scotland's 'Top' Clubs in Project Brave

BulletPoints

Well-Known Member
The Scottish FA is delighted to announce a landmark step in Project Brave, with the confirmation of club placings within the new academy structure.

Our aim is to work with the clubs to improve the overall standard of young Scottish footballers which, in turn, will enhance the domestic game and boost the national team in their efforts.

Applicant clubs were graded according to a criteria-based system and an assessment of Measurable Performance Outcomes (MPOs).

The aim was to bring greater focus to talent development and optimise playing opportunities.
Enhanced funding for achieving MPOs will encourage best practice, with the objective of Project Brave to harness the success of the strategic plan and ensure a more efficient pathway to first-team football.

Those not selected for the ‘Elite’ top tier will still have access to a level of funding from the Scottish Football Association to support the running and improvement of their academies.

Scottish FA Performance Director Malky Mackay said: “This is a significant milestone for Project Brave.

“Club Academy Scotland is a fundamental part of the process and a lot of work has gone into developing the criteria used to assess the clubs.

“From Day One this has been a collaborative activity.

“The clubs have been engaged at every step, with daily dialogue to help with their applications.

“We have been heartened and inspired by so many of the positive things we have seen in regards to the development of young Scottish footballers and our aim is to assist clubs and encourage them to hit the highest possible standards.

“What I would like to stress is that the bandings are not fixed and they will be reassessed in June 2018.

“No door is closed to clubs outside of the Elite bracket with aspirations to move up.

“As a result of the conversations we had with clubs, a new middle tier was created.

“The ‘Progressive’ category was designed to ensure ‘smaller’ but ambitious clubs with academies could find their natural place in the system, with scope to push on.

“For those in the top tier, we will continue to monitor their work in conjunction with our independent auditors.

“This is only one more step but we believe it’s a crucial one.”

I’m guessing it’s a joint youth venture by Falkirk, Stirling Albion, Alloa and the other clubs in that area. Fife has a similar set up with it’s four Senior clubs (Fife Elite).
Forth valley is Falkirk , east Stirling and stenhousmuir .
Stirling Albion and Alloa have there own set up . Livingston,Elgin, Montrose, airdrie and queen of the south all have teams too don't know what's going on with they clubs now

As above, it's a joint venture by clubs in the Falkirk/Stirling area. I've no idea how it will work if it unearths the next Messi and Falkirk and Stirling Albion or Alloa are fighting over him.

Forth Valley seems to be well run and have a good set up for Developing young players.
They appear to move the talented players onto the Senior clubs depending on how the lads are progressing.
Do not know how their process works tho regarding which clubs the lads go to and who would get any future transfer fees regarding their Development.
Have heard plenty good things about them over the last 4 years and always wondered how their system worked including the lads Registrations.
If say Lad A is doing well and is moved out to Stenhousemuir for 1 year then onto Falkirk for say 1 year then maybe sold to a Championship/EPL even how do they share the Final Fee.
Curious Loyal ? ?

Forth Valley was set up a few years back combining Falkirk, Stenhousemuir and East Stirling.
The shire were first to drop out it and then Stenhousemuir.
It’s still called Forth Valley but all the boys signed are Falkirk players.
They didn’t get in the Elite because they don’t have a indoor facility.

Thanks for that info :)

Maybe they should stop shaming and doing anything they possibly can to destroy the biggest club in the country and actually back them like normal countries do, then standard of the scottish game would improve.

Whats to stop them using an indoor facility the same as hamilton and motherwell who will use ravenscraig or hearts hibs at the oriam??

Are they still based at Stirling Uni? Thought they might have had indoor facilities.

My sons team played them at stenhousemiir ground 2 weeks ago not sure the have pulled out

Project Brave is destined to fail from the start, smaller teams bursting the bank to try gain elite status, apparently Ross County have shelled out more than 600k(still aren't in elite grade yet) my sons team St Mirren didn't apply for elite as its outside their financial capabilities,

If a Killie, Hamilton or Motherwell are relegated from SPL you can bet your house that the cost cutting starts with the over priced youth set up and the 5 full time employees that are mandatory to make the elite grade

Motherwell, Hamilton and Aberdeen are all shitholes, it's an embarrassment to put them in an elite list.

Forth Valley is a joint effort by Falkirk, Stenhousemuir & East Stirling. Alloa and Stirling Albion are not involved.

As mentioned above, Falkirk get first choice of the best players. Think the players go to Graeme High School if they are selected and combine their schooling with extra football coaching along the same as we do with Boclair Academy.

In my experience the coaches in the Forth Valley set up are mostly arseholes.
And poets.

Why are they giving us and Celtic extra money because we are elite? Surely it makes more sense to give our funding to the lesser academies to make them better?
