Gary Neville will be one of the lead pundits on ITV’s coverage of the World Cup in Russia next year.

The former England stalwart, who played in the 1998 and 2006 World Cups, will be a key part of the channel’s studio team, based in Moscow throughout the 2018 tournament, which kicks off in June 2018.

He will join ITV’s main football presenter, Mark Pougatch, along with fellow pundits, including his former Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs, Ian Wright and Lee Dixon in Russia.

ITV’s full World Cup Line-up will be announced closer to the tournament.

Gary’s deal to work for ITV during the World Cup was made in agreement with his colleagues at Sky Sports, where he is a regular expert analyst and co-commentator on their Premier League coverage.

Gary said: “I’m delighted to join the team at ITV for next summer's World Cup coverage and thank Sky for also making it possible. I’ll look forward to joining up with them in Russia next June.”

Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, said: “Gary Neville is one of the most respected and valued voices in football broadcasting. His experience, insight and understanding of both football and footballers will greatly enrich our coverage of next year’s World Cup.”

Makes a fine change from listening to O’Neill and Keane all summer.

Yeah ITV have been cleaver to get Gary Neville which might mean less air time for Keane since he still does punditry work for them

O'Neill may well still end on the BBC as he worked for them before at the tournaments

Great news, I like Lee Dixon as a pundit as well, Ian Wright not so much, as for Ryan Giggs, he brings nothing to the table.

Great news, like Neville a lot. Good pundit.

Looking forward to it already.

Great being able to support your country at a major tournament.
