George Edmundson to Posh?

Probably not the worst move for him. He'd probably be 5/6th in the pecking order if he stays
 
RANGERS will not sell George Edmundson with Peterborough United keen on the defender, according to reports.

The English Championship new boys are looking to strengthen for the new campaign and have held an interest in the defender since his Oldham days.

Posh tried to snap up the defender before his move to Ibrox and are keen to try bring him to the club once again.

But the Daily Record report that the Light Blues have made it clear the 23-year-old won't be leaving the Premiership champions.

Darren Ferguson is reportedly willing to make a significant six-figure offer to sign the defender - who spent time on loan at Derby County last season - if Rangers change their mind.

The Rams are also said to be keen on snapping up the centre-back but boss Steven Gerrard is believed to be ready to welcome him back into the first-team fold.

Connor Goldson has been an ever-present in the heart of the Rangers defence with Leon Balogun and Filip Helander used alongside him for the majority of the season.

Jack Simpson arrived from Bournemouth in January while Nikola Katic is working his way back to full fitness after a long-term stint out.

Edmundson - who is keen to play regular first-team football - found game time hard to come by before leaving on loan during the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, Morecambe, Motherwell and Doncaster are battling it out to sign winger Josh McPake.

The trio want the 19-year-old on board next season but face competition from Oldham and Tranmere.

The Scotland Under-21 international is likely to be allowed to leave on loan against next season after stints at Morton and Harrogate.

McPake - out of contract at Rangers next summer - featured 23 times for Harrogate and helped them lift the FA Trophy.

Hendry had a very good season in Belgium and will be sold for 3x that amount this summer at least.

Edmundson was ok at best for a couple of months in the championship.

We're at a point now where our options are attempting to maximise his value with another loan spell or likely selling at a loss.

I'm sure Hendry has a £1.5m clause in his loan contract
 
Peterborough are tough negotiators when other clubs looking to buy their better players so they can shove their six figure bid up their arse

If we decide to sell we will get £1m at a minimum
 
Nothing again Edmundson but I think he reflects how much we have progressed in a year , for me ( and I seen a fair bit of him in championship) there’s no chance he gets in our team and would be lucky to make the bench , especially with Niko en route to full fitness

we have a right good blend at centre half with each player bringing their own different specialist attributes

Katic - power
Balogun - pace
Helander - superb tactical defender
Goldson - passing ability

George is unfortunate that for me he doesn’t bring his own specialist capability or his specialist capability isn’t better than those above ( might be too early ) but for me if we have an offer £1m+ then we will cash in ….
 
I think a season long loan down south might be the best option for us here.

George is already a good defender and still has time to develop further. I think if he has a successful season in we could potentially be looking at getting £4-5million for him.

Not that I’ve seen ,several times last season balogun saved a goal scoring chance with his pace & ability to cover back ,

With the nickname of “ the fridge “ wouldn’t suggest Edmundsons playing style is quick ?

Edmundson was given that nickname because of his build.

His recovery pace is the fastest of all the defenders at the club, Goldson is faster than Balogun too.

Fair enough- agree to disagree - there’s not a chance goldson is quicker than balogun ( good thing is none of them are slow ;))
