Glenn Roeder Has Passed Away

Remember speaking to him at the bar in the Most House hotel, (now Crown Plaza), on the Friday night before the 1996 Scottish Cup Final, nice bloke, sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace

Heard this earlier on , very sad news that Glenn has passed away after such a long battle with illness RIP .

Did he not take ill during one of his managerial jobs, maybe West Ham, and have to take a leave of absence ? He also did fairly well with Newcastle before being binned for Sam Allardyce.

Back when he was at Newcastle - think it was before he was named manager - a sister of a work colleague worked part-time for them. She was chucked out by her boyfriend and basically didn't know anyone in the town. Was in hysterics at work and somehow word got to Roeder. Within a few hours he'd helped find her a new place to stay and get her stuff back from her ex's place. Didn't know the lass other than to say hi to etc, but did it anyway.

Anything I've read about him suggests he was just that sort of bloke. Condolences to his friends and family.
