Graeme Souness: Former Liverpool & Scotland midfielder picks his team-mates XI

Sammy fuckin Lee.
Easy to see Sammy Lee as nothing more than Big Sam's sidekick but he's got two European Cups and played year in year out for that great Liverpool team of the eighties.
You have to remember that they starred together in Boys From The Black Stuff - Sammy was between Yosser and Souey in the infamous conversation.

Genuinly sat for a few seconds there thinking, when the fvck did he play with Messi!!

then read the article

Sammy Lee was a tremendous wee player, the kind that is appreciated by teammates for doing all the tracking back and closing down. Scored a few as well.

John Robertson seems to make it into every ex teammates best XI

Was he that good because they all seem to rave about him but his legacy doesn't seem to be that of his contemporaries?

John Robertson was a tremendous player, there is the famous story about Cloughie after he'd just made Trevor Francis the first million pound footballer. Francis asked what Cloughie expected of him & was told when you get the ball just give it to Robertson as he's a better player than you!

WATP

The wildcard option is just stupid. Far more interesting if they only pick from players that were teammates. Wildcard is like a get out of jail card to avoid offending someone.

The article is annoying too. “In a glittering career, Graeme Souness played for a Liverpool side that won 14 trophies, claimed cups in Italy and Scotland, and earned over 50 caps for his country.”

Not like Pacific Quay CSC to forget he played in the league winning team.
