Great Wins For Us and Defeats for Them on the Same Day/Night

The thing is, that in many ways was like Berwick. Killie were a lower division team, knocking the previous season's SC winners out of the SC. More than that, that night at Killie was a replay so, they had 180 minutes to beat lower division opponents. Anything can happen in 90 minutes, but having two bites at the cherry? And I'm pretty sure Colin Stein played for KIllie.

Incidentally, if the filth had won that night, we'd have been due to play them three weeks on the trot.

11/3 - SC tie
18/3 - LC final
25/3 - League match at the cesspit.

They were totally outplayed in those 180 minutes, by the lower division Kilmarnock.
The first game at Parkhead Celtic were lucky to get a replay, they scored a late equaliser with their only shot on target, whilst Latchford had kept them in the game with a string of magnificent saves.
Prior to that first game, Celtic had lost FIVE League games on the trot!
For the replay, Kilmarnock brought Loan Ranger Colin Stein into the team, and once again it was Latchford who kept Celtic in the game with some splendid goalkeeping throughout the game, before Kilmarnock got the thoroughly deserved winner in the 83rd minute,
and I quote
"As the huge devastated Celtic support cascaded back home over the Fenwick moors it was described akin to Napoleon's retreat from Moscow''.

12 days later we ended their season when we defeated them in the League Cup Final, as they sat 3rd bottom in the League!

The great Jock Stein in his last major final was fined £200 after telling referee Syme at full time
'Your father would have been proud of you'.
Note: the referee for this match and his father (David Syme & Willie Syme) are the grandson & son respectively of David Syme, who played for Celtic!
