RANGERS’ Shrewsbury Town loan star Greg Docherty is ‘recovering well’ in hospital after suffering an eye injury on Saturday.
We told how the midfielder was targeted in an attack as the vehicle taking him to hospital was pelted with objects.

The 22-year-old was hurt during the game at Bristol Rovers’ Memorial Stadium.
He took a ball to the face and was left with blurred vision

His club have now issued supporters with an update via social media.
A spokesperson said: “GREG DOCHERTY: Quick update, he’s sustained an eye injury and was seen by a specialist in the Bristol Eye Hospital on Saturday, he has been reviewed by a specialist at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital this morning. He’s recovering well.”

Shrewsbury boss Sam Ricketts told of his “disappointment” at the actions of those involved in the car attack.
He told the Shropshire Star : “Doch had some bleeding in his eye, he wanted to carry on.

But as it went on he started to struggle with vision

Doch’s left early to go to the eye hospital.
“I’m a bit disappointed with how the vehicle was treated taking him with objects thrown when they’re trying to leave the ground and get to hospital.”

Can see him getting recalled – unless this is more nuanced than we've heard, allowing him to play with bleeding in his eye is mental.

I'm sure a conversation will take place but I don't think recalling the boy and leaving him with no game-time until July would be in his best interests.

Not much point in bringing him home to sit in the stand or play reserve football.

He's better where he is and playing every week.

I'm sure the story will be an exaggeration mate.

There is no mention of the incident on the Shrewsbury website, not even in the mach report.

By the way this story is a pile of shite

He was in hospital for an hour, is absolutely fine, given a week off & currently on way up the road

So the headline & story is utter horeshit tbf

Thought it was a bit weird to be in hospital for 3 days with an eye injury thought it must have been bad

Thought so as soon as I read about a bleeding eye. I could have sworn it was a bloodshot eye?
