Gundogan not a fan of CL new format

The story was always players deserved big wages as its a short career. Given that outlook they'll have plenty time to put their feet up when they retire in their late 30s whilst the rest of us work into our late 60s / early 70s.
Here's an idea. If you.dont want to play those games fukc off and away and get a real job

It’s a shocking idea but in reality it’s only 4 more games

More players should speak out about the format though as it’s a fuc.king shit show

It doesn’t mean much when the guy saying it plays for a team who could make 11 changes most games and still win.

Can these arseholes get any more out of touch with reality?

Yes the new format is shite, but not because you lot get to play even more of the sport we all adore and would give at least one bollock to do as our "job". And earn more in a week than I do in a year. Somebody probably wipes your arse for you as well! Ya fucking tadger.

He’s spot on to be fair. New format is shite. More games for the sake of billionaire wallets. He’s also right about the danger of running players into the ground. We may all think footballers have it easy. But being an elite athlete requires immense physical and mental effort. It takes a toll.

It’s easy and tempting to resort to they earn x amount why are they complaining takes, but ultimately they are only human and he’s spot on that the addition of more games to the football calendar will ultimately diminish the quality of the game and see players careers shortened with injuries to players increasing. Any changes to the football calendar at the moment should be seeing fixtures reduced, not adding to the workload that players have.

The new CL format is also fundamentally stupid for many other reasons, but to add more games to the calendar to appease the bigger clubs seems daft, especially when managers like Pep and Klopp have already been complaining at the volume of games they face. The proposed ESL would’ve seen even more games added to the calendar, it is frankly unsustainable how often clubs are going to be asking their top players to play if the trend for more fixtures continues in the direction it’s going.

Poor footballer is tired after playing football.
He just needs to tell his manager he’s too unfit and can he miss out some games?

His ego is too big for that. Thinks he’s irreplaceable.

don't UEFA not remember the "2nd group stage" we had with the CL when it was just full of meaningless games and didn't last too long?

meaningless games is a bad thing about it but that "legacy qualification" thing is easily the worst about it. Idea that Barcelona could have a crap season and end outside the CL spots so they get one given to them because of their record in the tournament

The new format is rubbish. He’s just moaning about the wrong thing
It’s the “won’t people think of the players” pish that is laughable.

Can you imagine a guy that works on a building site or similar turn up for work on a Thursday and say to his gaffer. Don’t think I can do much today I worked really hard Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.

You’d get laughed off site and told to %^*& off :))

What a fucking fanny.

The new format is terrible but not for that reason. Players should be eagar for games, appreciate the competition. Complaining about this aspect just makes him look a right pampered knob.

I'm sure any of the clubs in Europe that have actually won their league and still have to qualify will happily take your automatic place for finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

Are players careers being shortened? I don’t think so. Players are far fitter than ever before and playing longer if anything. The likes of Liverpool when they were dominating Europe would have used a core of 14/15 players back in the 80s and those players were not playing on the bowling greens they are today either.

Nobody's a fan of the new CL format, it was an appeasement effort to a load of bastards that went and tried to create a Super-League anyway.

Either expand the tournament to 48 teams like how the Europa League is done now or go back to the way it was done with 32 teams in 2003-04 with a couple modifications ("Champions Path"/"Main Path" qualifying and have guaranteed spaces for the previous seasons winners of the Europa League and Champions League)

This Swiss Chess tournament system from over 100 years ago system is a fucking mess and seemingly, was designed to fail by people who were attempting to create a Super-League for the last 5 years.

Oh, and it incentivises match fixing. So not only is it a shit idea, but it's actively bad for the sport.

If they wanted extra “elite” games, they could do away with the last 16 being a straight knockout and have a second group stage again

If they had an extra group stage they’d have the big games they want and it’s still only an extra 4 games to what they’d currently have - it would also result in them making more £

Imagine we got through the first group stages and had another 3 games against elite teams, we’d make an absolute fortune from the second group stages.

We heavily benefited from only playing 3 games on route to the EL this season imo. 3 less games, a similar amount.

The new setup looks crap , nothing wrong with the way it is , only thing I could think of is bigger groups maybe 6 teams a group

It wasn't an appeasement as the main backers of the new format were the ones that tried to then break away and start their own league. They didn't just come up with the new format because the ESL was proposed.

Its a shite idea he’s right about that

but moaning about 4 games more cry me river for the poor soul and his £300,000 a week

Have to laugh, people think players bodies are invincible just because they are rich. They have limits too, there are already too many games.

Teams have squads of 25+ players and they’d be training even if they weren’t playing

An extra 4 games isn’t the issue, the new format is

Oh, it was definitely an appeasement. It was Ajax's Van der Sar designing something and every 5 minutes Agnelli would ask for something "On behalf" of his Super League lot.

On Sunday UEFA boss Cefarin was calling Agnelli and Woodward to ask for their opinion on the changes, anything else they would like to be changed etc. just as they were finishing the touches on their Super League announcement.

The whole thing was designed on giving the Super League teams everything they wanted so they wouldn't break away.

Then they tried to break away anyway.

I don't doubt that the big clubs, Juve especially, were trying to get their best out of the new reform, but saying it was an appeasement isn't the case. How can you offer an appeasement before UEFA even know a breakaway is ready to be announced?

I might be miles off it but I'm going to suggest that a premier league footballer who goes through the schedule season after season is likely to know more about the demands and whether the human body is capable of performing over the Follow Follow know it alls. :))
