Hearts goal from half way line today

There was a terrible video from the other end, what was the keeper doing. Not only was he miles off his line he was well off centre, almost on the touchline

Roofe fought for and won the ball then beat three defenders before shooting. Humphrey’s took a pass and ran away from one defender before shooting.
No comparison, without even taking the weather and pitch conditions into consideration.

Must be a bit of a dampener though, playing for Hearts and knowing that nothing you ever do, no matter how good, will never actually lead to anything.

(With all due respect to JamboReid, who seems like a decent fella)

It’s a great goal but I’ve never been wowed by these sorts of goals as much as many are. The keepers so far away from his goal he’s just got to get a reasonable amount of loft and get it within that 7.5m range for the length of the goals.

It’s like players picking out 50 yard passes which you do see quite frequently. But these goals aren’t something you see often because the keeper being way off his goal line while an opposition player is near the halfway line with an angle for a shot is a situation that never arises in about 99% of games. If it took some really advanced level technique then Hearts players probably wouldn’t be pulling it off.

Anyway Roofe’s was far better on account of the size of the game, terrible conditions, the angle and the fact he had to dribble a couple of players before he could shoot.

It's a great piece of skill and if it was that easy you would see it far more often. Definitely a case of easier said than done.

FFS hahahahaha. Roofe goal not withstanding, it's still an absolute peach.

I’m not saying it’s easy, but it’s not exactly difficult either. You don’t see it often because the whole situation barely every arises in games.

You'd be amazed how hard it is to lob a keeper from that distance.
