Hearts Statement

Heart of Midlothian Football Club can confirm that we were advised at 4.30pm this afternoon of the decision of the Joint Response Group to delay the return to training for clubs out-with the SPFL Premiership and that as a consequence, Hearts were required to cease training with immediate effect.

We requested a delay to the publication of that decision, while we discussed the implications. While the situation was being discussed internally, the decision was published, some 20 minutes or so later.

While recognising the hugely complex decision-making processes involved in dealing with the Covid-19 crisis, the Club has nonetheless objected to this decision in the strongest terms.

To be clear, we had previously requested to return to training on 3rd August to fit in with our training plans and needs. Along with a Betfred Cup campaign and Championship season to prepare for, we also have a Scottish Cup semi-final to participate in. We confirmed that we were able to comply with all the required protocols, which we have done. All other Championship clubs were given the same opportunity to return to training. They chose not to return at that time, as was their right.

Having received authority to return to training, we built our plans around the agreed date. Our players and support staff were taken off furlough; contracts were signed with new staff and new players on the clear understanding that we would be in full training. We signed contracts with service providers, including Oriam and our Testing company. Testing has once again been carried out this week, with costs incurred, in anticipation of continued training. Suffice to say that at a time when every football club in the land is managing its costs as tightly as possible, we have incurred significant “unnecessary” costs.

We have done nothing wrong and yet, once again, we are being disproportionately disadvantaged by a decision which has been described as “the fairest”. We should not forget that this situation has come about, not because of Covid-19, but because of behavioural issues, not by our employees but by those of other clubs. This delay reflects a lack of confidence that certain clubs will be able to comply and meet the required protocols. How can it possibly be “fair” that we should be penalised?

When questioned in what way this was “the fairest way forward”, we were advised that some other clubs now wanted to return to training and it was deemed that by preventing them from doing so, without halting our training, would give us an unfair advantage.

Our fans are naturally incensed by this action, especially given what has transpired over recent months. For the avoidance of doubt, everyone at the Club is equally incensed. We are currently considering our options.

A quite incredible decision to be honest. Celtic and Aberdeen players flout regulations so lower league clubs suffer the consequences. It’s an utterly ridiculous outcome. Of all the things they could have done to deal with it this is the last that any sensible person would have thought of.

I don’t have sympathy for them but everything they say is correct. They’ve been treated disgracefully by a band of jokers who don’t give a shit about any of their member clubs bar one. Too bad Hearts didn’t show more spine early doors and were always poised and ready to get in bed with the SPFL so long as it saved their own skin.

If we're going to take on this mob, we need allies. The more wake up the harder it becomes for them.

Fair to say hearts are now firmly onside with us, as are a few other clubs. This lot running the game will f**k up again, so let's have a few more onside.

Spare me the 2012 talk, this is now 2020 and we cant go it alone.

I genuinely can't believe the short-sightedness of some on here.
Hearts have been totally shafted here, no matter what happened in 2012, everything dished out to them was a result of making sure the filth got a trophy they didn't win.

Like we didn't deserve what we went through, neither do Hearts.

How many statements have Hearts made in the last 3 months. A hearts statement is the equivalent of a teenager storming up the stairs and slamming their room door.

Hard done by for sure but f Hearts in all honesty, they would have been licking the feet of those in charge and would have thrown anyone under the bus at the tail end of last season to stay in the spl, regardless of morality.

Oh well how sad shit on again seem to remember that lot putting the boot intae us not that long ago absolutely no sympathy with them whatsoever what goes around comes around

What percentage would be required for a vote of no confidence to pass? Could this apply to CEO/Chairman only, or could you have a vote of no confidence in the board itself?

The problem is that if Doncaster were to get ousted, the current board, made up of Tims and their placemen, would simply appoint another patsy.

Then you have almost the same rogues in the SFA.

Question is, how do we and others get free from their clutches? There seems to be no way out, they seem to have a stranglehold for the foreseeable future.

Another Hearts statement which will result in hee haw action

They've have been done so many times by the SPFL they don't even hide it anymore

The 2 clubs that caused this get away with nothing, happening to them.but maybe now other clubs will realise they should have voted to look into the corrupt spfl,SFA.no surrender w.a.t.p

I totally agree with this. As much as I hate most teams in this shit hole, we need to bite the bullet on this one and gets clubs onside. We can't do this alone and need support to take these charlatans on. I am no lover of Hearts etc but this has severely pissed me off. Their favourite team has a full week to go about their business, sign players and get ready for a CL qualifier and they, and Aberdeen, get off scot free for blatantly breaking rules.

Our club need to step up here. This is a piss take now. They are clearly laughing in everyone's face. The board should be getting allies and then call for a vote of no confidence. Enough is enough.
