Helicopter Sunday - Glad to hear it still hurts like hell

There he is again with trying to blame others for his own failures.

"Oooh Scott Macdonald shouldnt have scored those goals if he was a diehard Celtic fan, he should have cheated instead. Boohoo Boohoo."

No Alan. You couldnt finish your dinner that day. And thank fk that no one else other than Scott Macdonald could either you utter waste of space.

Keep them coming , its pure timmy porn.

Scott McDonald slammed for Celtic Helicopter Sunday celebrations as Motherwell joy branded 'absolute disgrace' by former Parkhead man

The Aussie went on to play for the Hoops but Alan Thompson is still raging about the Fir Park upset.

“All we had to do was win the game that day and we’d be crowned champions again.

“Chris Sutton scored, we were in a great position and we missed some great chances to put that game to bed.

“The league was coming back to Celtic Park until the 88th minute when self-confessed Celtic fanatic Scott McDonald scored, then bagged another in the 90th minute to hand Rangers the title.

"It was utter devastation. I’ve had lows in football but this was something from out of this world. I’d never seen or felt anything like it.

“I can understand ex-Rangers man Terry Butcher going nuts as the Motherwell boss, but McDonald celebrated like he’d just won the league.

“Back at Easter Road, Marvin Andrews said God was behind us losing the league in the last two minutes of the season.

“He went crazy with joy when thousands of Celtic supporters were on the floor in tears. :)

"The way Motherwell celebrated was an absolute disgrace. There was no respect. It was like they won that title.

“I don’t know what God was playing at if that was true. It was a stake through the heart to all of us on that pitch at Fir Park.

"I’m still broken-hearted about it, and it brings a bad feeling to my stomach. :) :)

“Now, 16 years on, I still can’t describe the feeling. If we thought losing in Seville and losing the league on the last day in 2003 were bad, this was tenfold." :) :) :)
Thanks for Sharing! ;). ( @jaws73 too :p )

More 'Borg-like' manure from a washed-up alkie creature.

Caffeine doping, boo hoo hoo

Hibs never tried, boo hoo hoo

Dunfermline lay down, boo hoo hoo

Kilmarnock goalie tried too hard, boo hoo hoo

JRP Gordon cheated us, boo hoo hoo

Hugh Dallas cheated us, boo hoo hoo etc, etc ad nauseam.

I really do wish they would all feck off into the Oirsh Sea and feckin drown.
:p knock-out, mate!

Yep, my dad played bowls with his uncle, and that side are Celtic fans. McDonald leaned towards them, but would have okayed for us if given the chance
I've never seen him as 'a Diehard', a player who tries very hard to win, yes. His commentary what I've seen, hasn't been biased towards them. He was a very good player.

The league is won after the last game and throughout the duration of the season Thomson ya stinking tim.......let's hope the memory haunts you forever.

He’s one of those, if I was ever in his company I’d pretend to be one of them just to gain his ongoing inner thoughts about this.

I’d cap his free drinks at £50 though. We all have limits!

Oh, please do go on Alan. B-D

Is that gob-shite taking out a new colouring in book or something? Seems to have plenty to say for himself the last few days

“Alan Thompson is still raging”

Also known as a day with a ‘y’ in it. His pain gives me great joy.

Love how the first goal came from the Motherwell player totally fu*kin' up his shot and kicking the ball straight in to the ground only for it to bounce up for McDonald. The greatest bit of luck ever.

Even the second looks like it takes a deflection off Varga.

One of the best days of my life. I was literally shaking from the adrenaline pumping through my veins.

A day I’ll never forget.

Sat at lunch in work with a motherwell and celtic fan and 2 of us had a good laugh at Thompson's comments at the others expense B-)

I was going through my journalism training at the time alongside our very own Chris Jack and we had a lassie called Denise in the year at the time who was seeing Scott McDonald.

The ‘diehard Celtic fan’ claim came out a few days after that goal, but that’s certainly not the story that we were told from her at that point.
I reckon the die hard part was false at that point, his mum or its his dad who is a rangers fan the other celtic.

Feeling a bit down at moment, so came on to read about the game tonight,
found this thread and makes me feel so much better, thanks Alan

I started a shift in the old Motherwell Asda about 20 minutes after that game finished and I’ve never enjoyed a day in work more than that.

Outside on the trolleys, just laughing at all the greeting papes trudging through Brandon Parade back to the train station.

Beautiful.
I was in Motherwell ASDA with the now Mrs O'Hanrahahanrahan shortly after that game too! We bought a cooked chicken from the counter.

Enjoyed it almost as much as the cultural evening that was to follow.

He’s not mad about the celebration he’s mad because he scored. I think he’s saying that MacDonald should’ve missed deliberately?

So Coke Fiend Thompson following in the hallowed paranoid footsteps of bawsack Chris Sutton 2 years earlier

Helicopter Sunday is one of those days I will never tire hearing about.

From our joy to their pain.

What a day.
There's a brilliant little book called My Helicopter Sunday which recalls the memories of how the day unfolded from the Rangers fans. I got a Helicopter Sunday T shirt from a shop in Stockwell St called Diego10 , the same gut ended up with stalls at Braehead, Silverburn selling loads of classic old firm T Shirts and tops.
I still wear my shirt from time to time and the dirty looks I get are delicious.

Anyone that has ever watched Citizen Kane will know what Rosebud means. When Thompson speaks his last word that will be his Rosebud moment. HELICOPTER.

Interesting Thompson said 2005 hurt worse than 2003.

He missed a penalty against Kilmarnock, leathered it over the bar if I remember correctly. The pain of Helicopter Sunday must have been severe, beautiful.

A bottle merchant in more than one sense.

That is fvcking tremendous reading.

I still remember absolutely everything about that day. Wonderful stuff.

Great hearing stories from that day, motherwell players who were rangers fans going mad in the dressing room while a celtic member of staff dropped in the champagne

These words are just as relevant now as they where back then....

Get it right fucking roon ye.

To be fair Hibs never tried as they needed no worse than 1-0 to qualify for Europe lol they chucked it after we scored and let us pass the ball about in our box, unchallenged for the last 15-20 mins lol
Don’t I know it, but yer average puddle drinker didn’t see it that way.

They couldn’t understand how their Embra relations didn’t go hell for leather.

Loved the last few minutes of the game when we just passed the ball about and Hibs just sat back.

It's a coincidence that this has come.out today given that in the countless times I've been at Easter Road since that day I've always been in the lower section, my ticket for tonight is in the upper, tha last time.i was up there was that brilliant day in May 2005.

A memorable day for any Rangers fan.
I know nothing about the publishing game, but the excerpts released so far do not make attractive reading for any shark thrower, and Rangers fans are not going to buy his book.
So who have the publisher or ghost writer aimed this publication at?
He seems to be saying opposition players should not celebrate scoring against "ra hoops", which only confirms the smug sense of entitlement anyone at that club has.

Loved the last few minutes of the game when we just passed the ball about and Hibs just sat back.

And the ex Celtic player and 'Huddle' inventor just waved them back into their own half when they tried to close us down.

I only found out that they were losing 1-0 when I switched on Teletext. Ha-ha-ha !

I was then pacing the room, terrified to even look at the telly. When after what seemed like an eternity I finally did and it was Motherwell 2 Peasants 0.

It was an incredible afternoon.

It's difficult to get through reading and hearing anything about Helicopter Sunday withouht greetin like a wain. It was a magical time in our history.

watched it in the auctioneers.

they had the rangers game on the tv and there must have been a bit of a delay getting the mcdonald goal footage ready to play on that feed.

the chef must have had a radio and came out the kitchen screaming that motherwell had scored, but we needed to see it with our own eyes to believe it. time stood still for about ten seconds before euphoria could took over when it appeared on the screen.
