Accies joined the Scottish League midway through the 1897-98 season, replacing the famous side Renton who dropped out early in the season, and we fullfilled our first Scottish League fixture on 6th November 1897, a home game at Douglas Park against Kilmarnock which we lost 3-2.

Friday’s home game v League Champions Celtic (8th September) marks our 4000th league match, and, our next league win will also be our 1500th victory in league games.

Our complete league record at present reads –

Played 3999 Won 1499 Drawn 864 Lost 1636 Goals For 6268 Goals Against 6688

As an indication of how long 1000 games takes, our 3000th league fixture was a 2-2 draw at Somerset Park v Ayr Utd on Tuesday 20th November 1990, Colin Harris & George McCluskey scoring for us that night. The Accies team that night was – A Ferguson, McKee, McGuigan, Millen, Weir, O’Hara (Hillcoat), Harris, Burns, McCluskey, Napier, McDonald.

I've always had a soft spot for the Accies since 89, used to to their games if Rangers were away back then, got a close up of the famous Fergie in action :D

best of luck for their 4000th fixture.

Can't forget when they beat us at Ibrox in the cup. To make matters worse it was my birthday.

It was just one of those days. We hammered them and they has one chance and scored.

It's written in the stars I tell you.

Noticed that the referee for the Hamilton v Celtic game is Don Robertson. That is the guy that Brendan went crazy about when he awarded a penalty against Celtic, albeit a ridiculous decision, when they played at Ross County last season. No chance of Hamilton getting a penalty on Friday.
