Rangers are now a very strong team. It won't be that easy there. They may be among the top 8. But that's just my opinion. Everyone sees it differently

Of course not Rangers, have you seen the terrain that is terrifying there ... And why does everyone want MU to be the toughest opponent, that no one wants SKS to go even further ??

Gers scored 9 goals in two matches, they are also in better shape than Celtic, I don't know if he is such an ideal opponent, they are also heartbeats and great fighters to the dead. It's better something like Molde or the Swiss, someone who doesn't have the same tactics to put total pressure on the gate.

I don't want Kiev, Donetsk, or Ajax. Good would be AC, Rangers, playable Granada. United or Totenham later

There are a few who would like Rangers. But, I think that the general consensus is that they will take who they get and not fear anyone.

Proof if required of our reputation growing on the continent though.

They are very dangerous in a one off. Loads of attacking options and a solid core. It was entertaining last night to see how clueless the BT Sport pundits were. I don't think Steve McMananananananananananananananmaan watched any European football and Crouch is a joke. I enjoyed seeing Rodgers 'rest' players and get papped out. What a week!

Drew away to Barca and Inter last season.

Drew in Seville the year before.

Been beat 4-1 away to FC Midtjylland, 3-1 away to Hapoel Beer Sheva and 4-0 away to Leverkusen this season though.

Lost two of their best players from last season to West Ham this season.

No defence left in the tournament will want to face our front 3.

Buzzing for the draw today
No easy ties.
On the scum board last night many of them were convinced that it was Sparta rather than Slavia. They've been gubbed that much in Europe that they don't even know who it is that has handed them their arses these days.
And that's with Slavia having a stand named after a guy who played in Celtic's first ever game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Europe was never really Rodgers thing going by his track record at the filth, rested players or not!

Let’s face it who ever get to his far are no mugs every game will be difficult

Agree completely.

There aren’t any garbage teams at this stage of any European competition.

Being honest, I would probably want to avoid a really tough draw today, to give us a chance of last 8. I’ve always believed Butcher was right when he said Ipswich targeted last 8 every year, as they felt that the trophy was anybody’s if you got that far in Europe.

So, just want a winnable tie today. Something that gives us a decent chance to progress. That’ll do me, and then we see how deep this rabbit hole goes :)

The Midjytlland game was anything but a 4-1 game.

First leg 0-0.

Slavia 1-0 up in the Norway leg but lost equaliser.

Then there was a penalty - which the keeper saved! But, a retake was very, very harshly ordered. That was scored - and the heads went down a bit and they lost another couple of goals.

Going by the replies on any BT Sport tweet about us last night , you won't find similar on messageboards of English teams.
They are expecting to play the Dog and Duck's regulars the day after a stag.

Would be nice to put them to the sword.

This comment is off the Man United forum:

I mean when you see those remaining teams, this is a guilt edge opportunity for Ole to finally win a trophy. Even Europa specialists Sevilla aren’t involved this year. There should be no one we fear and geography could be irrelevant given the randomness of where teams are having to play ‘home’ games now. I’d like Rangers for the banter but weirdly, that would arguably be the hardest draw along with Spurs.

Just like they were convinced they'd signed Ben Davies from Spurs on a bosman

Looking on the English teams’ forums, the Man Utd fans seem very confident they’d beat us. Spurs and definitely Arsenal fans seem much cagier.

exactly. Molde have won consistently all year and obviously I would fancy us but they clearly have something about them.

Hoffenheim absolutely battered them last night yet two shots on goal for two goals is a trend that has been there all year for Molde. I suspect they are like our euro run team. Sit in frustrate then punish teams when they over stretch and pick them off.

there will be no easy games at the point or any point going forward.

anyone that thinks that can end that notion straight away, even Antwerp gave us scares and never really let us settle until it was settled.

Molde are a good a team they just lack consistency in the league against a dominant Bodo/Glimt side who pressed AC Milan all the way in Europe this season.

Caught the last 20 minutes of the Prague game and they look a solid outfit.

Not sure on their own team but shit hot knowing about The Rangers, sounds about right.

I saw the highlights at the time. It might not have been but their defending was horrendous for all the goals that night including the penalty.

They seem like a decent enough outfit but I'd back us to take them over two legs. That's not a wild thing to say, we're quite a good team.

I also think some of their performances this season are more relevant than last year or the year before (we heard the same stuff about Standard Liege) and getting into stuff like that offers us beating Midjytlland 7-3 on aggregate which I don't think is relevant to now either.

Gerrard is already a more adaptable manager than him.

He is more of a leader than a self serving egotist ala Rodgers! Further he is coaching way above his resources on the European stage which is turning a Rangers side which was consigned to the fourth level of Scottish football not that many years ago into a genuine European force.

He has also been pragmatic enough to crack the code where dominating the filth was concerned. I don’t think those looking in at Scottish football understand just how much of a challenge that was. Playing against teams who see Rangers as their cup finals and officials which give them carte Blanche to kick us off the park.

It took him a couple of seasons to create the ‘inflection point’ which has seen the utter collapse of the filth. His man management and tactical nous have now come to the fore, he is seen no more as a rookie manager and more of a finished product.

Rodgers on the other hand is a very good ‘domestic’ club manager who’s coaching ability is a tad one dimensional when it comes to adapting to Europe imho.

Whoever we draw we know the management team will go over them in minute detail to sort out a game plan for the day of the match.

Nothing surprises me about Rangers these days and whatever team we are drawn with will know they are in for a helluva game.

The thing that worries me is our defence.

Goldson was a bomb scare again last night, hesitant and unable to judge the bounce of the ball.

I could not believe he let that high ball played into our box bounce before attempting a poor headed clearance - what happened to the centre half mantra of never letting a high ball bounce.

Fair to say our lauded defence domestically does get found out in Europe. 8 games played since qualifying to group stage, 3 clean sheets and 12 goals conceded in the other 5. We have lost 2 goals in each of our last 3 home ties, which is a massive concern.

Antwerp, who IMHO were not a great side, scored 4 very poor goals, each can easily be blamed on poor defending, or poor marking, or a player falling asleep and not covering his runner.

We are going to have to raise our game in the next round. If we are to have any chance of getting to the quarters our defence will have to be at the top of their game.

I was surprised this hasn't got more converge. He looks leggy and a bit flat. He's played a silly amount of football and never gets a breather. I don't know why.
